🎥 : Previously on Trade Finance TV, we looked at how frontier economy defaults make it tough for those countries to get back on their feet. In this episode, Robert Besseling of Pangea-Risk returns with Shona Tatchell of the EBRD and Deutsche Bank’s Anand Jha. We hear more about how development banks and commercial banks work together to get trade flowing. “Trade finance facilities have constantly been respected,” says Besseling, and Anand explains the steps leading up to an economy’s recovery to the point where and IMF bail-out will happen in conjunction with development finance institutions working with commercial banks. Tatchell reminds viewers how Greece went from being fully developed and mature to being part of the EBRD’s Trade Finance Facilitation Programme. “That is the function of development banks, the smoothing out of pricing and the reestablishment of trust,” she reflects. Deutsche Bank Corporate Bank wrapped up an engaging time at #AFP2024 last week. Our team had the opportunity to host clients for a special discussion which focused on the impacts that current geopolitical and macroeconomic factors are having on emerging markets, specifically China and Mexico, addressing treasury challenges and opportunities across these markets. The discussions were set against the backdrop of the shifting global landscape that is likely to make planning for 2025 another challenging year featuring cross currents. While core central banks around the world will advance policy normalisation efforts, the upcoming US election could see the potential introduction of more tariffs and a worsening environment for global investment and trade across the world. Idiosyncratic challenges in different corners of emerging markets will be a theme to be addressed by corporate treasurers. Two topics were central to this discussion, which included an emerging markets macro discussion, moderated by Christopher Wall, Head of RMS Americas and Global Head of FX Structuring, Deutsche Bank, and included the following panelists: ▶️ Ashok Kumar Das, Head of Global Emerging Markets & Fixed Income and Currencies Macro Trading, Asia, Deutsche Bank ▶️ Perry Kojodjojo, Lead North Asia Macro Strategist, Deutsche Bank ▶️ Francisco Campos Ortiz, Chief Economist for Latin America, Deutsche Bank In addition, Charlene Chen, Co-Head of Risk Management Solutions, APAC, Deutsche Bank and Monica Wai, Lead Risk Management Solutions Latin America and Asia Sales Specialist, Deutsche Bank shared various case studies that corporate treasury teams can utilise to manage the assortment of risks they are currently facing in yet another volatile year ahead. This included solutions addressing FX translation, embedded FX risk, operational and liquidity risks in China, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Brazil, and Pakistan. Deutsche Bank is active in currencies in more than 70 countries across Asia, Latam and CEEMEA. Deutsche Bank, #CashManagement #TradeFinance #ForeignExchange
