ECOMAT visits Airbus and Ariane site in Bremen More than 50 participants from ECOMAT partners Fraunhofer IFAM, Senatorin für Wirtschaft, Häfen und Transformation, Faserinstitut Bremen, Deutsches Zentrum für Luft-und Raumfahrt e.V. and others visited the Airbus and Ariane facilities in #Bremen. After a welcome and introduction by Hubertus Lohner, the partners got an impression of Ariane's latest product, the Ariane 6 rocket, followed by a tour of the Airbus wing production, which is part of the #MCC, the Movables Competence Cluster. The visit ended in the workshops for the #A350 and #A330 wing equipment. Our visitors were impressed to see some developments from ECOMAT partners that are now in production and the guides enjoyed many detailed technical questions and discussions. Thank you for an exciting and inspiring day! Daniel Sackmann Thomas Koch

Getting down to business: Memorandum of Understanding with the region of Kobe, Japan is being filled with life Just one day after a fantastic and successful Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe in Hamburg, we welcomed a high-ranking Japanese delegation to ECOMAT consisting of government representatives and strong industrial companies from #Kobe such as Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., KOBE STEEL LTD and Yamamoto Electric Works Co., Ltd. and many more. The goal: promoting international collaboration in the field of #hydrogen and outlining the next steps for concrete, application-oriented cooperation. The event was the next step in implementing our Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with our colleagues from Kobe, which we signed at the ILA air show in June of this year. The formalized cooperation enables global cooperation with industry and science, supports an extensive exchange of knowledge and promotes overall German-Japanese joint work on innovations in the field of hydrogen. We are very honored by the great participation of our Japanese guests and we would also like to thank all ECOMAT, Bremen and Northern Germany partners who accompanied this day in the spirit of networking. This was the starting point for many concrete activities together with Kobe - thank you very much! A special thank you goes to Koji Omae as well as Christian Schütt and Alexander V. of Senatorin für Wirtschaft, Häfen und Transformation for the great organization of this event. Day two at the Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe! We've already had some great discussions at the #Bremen booth, where we showcased our ECOMAT competencies, among other things. Especially the interaction between the different companies and ECOMAT-partners at the stand creates a great synergy and helps us showcasing the Bremen #Hydrogen strength to all the interested trade fair visitors. Many thanks especially to the Deutsches Zentrum für Luft-und Raumfahrt e.V., which contributed a real eye-catcher: A giant hydrogen tank cut-out. Greetings from our ECOMAT-Team Bastian Müller, Dr.-Ing. Anastasiya Tönjes, Moritz Steinhardt and (watching from on-screen) Hubertus Lohner. Visit us at stand 1A5 - we look forward to exciting discussions and pioneering collaborations!

Welcome to Bremen, David May! The new head of the Faserinstitut Bremen has big plans, as he reveals in our interview. And the South German is also well on his way to becoming a true #Bremen native. "My impressions have been entirely positive. I feel my colleagues in this specialist area have a great deal of enthusiasm and are keen to push things forward by working together", he says about the first weeks in office. His first visits at #ECOMAT left a lasting impression: "I was extremely impressed by my first visit to ECOMAT, especially the size of the centre and its top-level, professional equipment. The technology centre, the plastic and fibre testing laboratories, the contemporary offices: all the infrastructure is of an exceptionally high standard." With this, his strategy becomes clear: "I have three main goals for the future: advancing welding technologies, making use of the synergies between our research fields of fibres and fibre composite materials and reinforcing networks and cooperative ventures. My aim is to set up a laboratory that is able to quickly provide accurate statements about fitting welding processes as they are used for a diversity of materials and applications." After his first weeks, he already feels at home in Bremen: "I've found the people of Bremen to be uncomplicated and approachable, so far, especially in the university environment." Of course, his hobby also plays a part in this: cycling - so he is in good hands in the cycling city of Bremen. We wish him a good start! The full interview provides an insight into Prof. May's research focus, his initial ideas for the endowed professorship at Airbus, which he also holds, and a piece of advice he would like to give to young people in particular: https://lnkd.in/eRTH54tk Hubertus Lohner Moritz Steinhardt Bastian Müller Dr.-Ing. #Kobe City Government visits ECOMAT ✈️🚀 We had the great honor of welcoming a high-ranking delegation from Kobe, Japan including Mr. Kohei Ohata, Director General of the Economic Bureau, to the #ECOMAT last Friday. The visit, accompanied by Bremen's State Councillor for Economic Affairs Ms. Maike Frese (Senatorin für Wirtschaft, Häfen und Transformation), follows a series of exchanges between representatives of Kobe and ECOMAT, who signed an MoU to strengthen international collaboration in the field of #hydrogen. The German-Japanese discussions bring together politics, industry and science, resulting in a very lively, multifaceted and concrete exchange everytime we meet up. We would like to thank our Japanese colleagues for the visit, the valuable exchange as well as input and we are looking forward to the next meeting (during the Hydrogen Technology Expo in October).
