Veolia is reorganising its biomethane business in Germany. Braunschweig-based BS|ENERGY has taken over the balancing group management of Hamburg-based Biocycling GmbH since mid-October, the company announced. Both are subsidiaries of Veolia. Within just a few days, BS Energy has created new market access for the biogas producer for around 70 GWh of biomethane at three feed-in locations across Germany, it added: https://lnkd.in/ewarQXqV (€) #biocycling #biomethane #biogas

🌍 Europe can cover most of its #hydrogen🫧 needs on its own in the long term. This is shown by simulations carried out by the Fraunhofer Cluster of Excellence 'Integrated Energy Systems' (Cines) for the years 2030 and 2050. 🔎 The researchers assume that electrolysers within Europe's borders will be more cost-effective than longer transport routes. 👉 However, this requires well-developed corridors and sufficient hydrogen storage facilities of a similar size to today's #gas storage facilities. Russian natural #gas will no longer flow through #Ukraine from the beginning of next year ❌ . This was confirmed by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a meeting with Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico in Uzhhorod, Ukraine. To date, around 14 to 15 billion cubic metres of natural gas have flowed through Ukraine every year. 👉 "Ukraine's strategic goal is to impose sanctions on Russian gas in order to deprive the Kremlin of the profits from the sale of #hydrocarbons with which the aggressor is financing the war. https://lnkd.in/eKHVsqpZ (€)

🌍 The EU Commission has spoken out in favour of accelerating the #offshore #wind projects of the nine countries bordering the #NorthSea. Although it recognises progress in energy policy cooperation, it considers it necessary to increase the pace. 📌 This became clear at the ministerial meeting on energy co-operation in the North Sea region (NSEC) in the Danish city of Odense. The latest status of the projects was published in the so-called Tender Tool. Read here for free: https://lnkd.in/em7vbBBe

A few weeks ago, the government cut several areas of the Climate and Transformation Fund (KTF) as part of its economic planning. The German Federal Audit Office is now warning that the KTF in its current form is barely financially viable for the coming year and is also questioning the extent to which the subsidised measures actually save greenhouse gases: https://lnkd.in/en3cd9kP (€) #budget #transformation #climate #fund

📊 Despite turbulence in the biomethane market, planning and construction activities for waste and residue-based biomethane projects have increased. This is according to the 'Biomethane 2024 industry barometer'. An increase of around ten plants per year is expected in the coming years. Although this is less than the industry had planned before the price collapse in GHG quota trading, it is "well above the average expansion of recent years", according to the report. 🌱 In a difficult market in which two large biomethane traders, bmp greengas GmbH and Landwärme GmbH, filed for bankruptcy, entrepreneurs took advantage of their opportunities, according to the report. According to the survey of German and European companies in the biomethane sector, portfolio diversification and knowledge building are the most urgent tasks for the coming years: https://lnkd.in/eAmywhvq #biomethane #insolvency #barometer #industry #news
