Modernization of a production and office building at Chempark Leverkusen – final project successfully implemented. The almost 30-year-old building control system of a production and office building in the Chempark Leverkusen quickly reached its limits when the solar radiation was high. This led to issues in maintaining the required conditions in the cleanrooms. The productivity of the AGV forklift trucks also suffered, as their sensors were impaired by the increase in solar radiation. To solve this problem, the technicians at the Hans-Sachs-Berufskolleg (Hans Sachs Vocational College) in Oberhausen opted for our control technology, which can be used in both industrial environments and buildings. The first part of the project involved replacing the lighting and façade control system. The new façade control system takes the solar radiation on all four sides of the building into account and supports the air condition and ventilation control in automatic mode to ensure that the production facilities do not overheat. To implement this concept system, the apprentices used one of our compact embedded PCs together with EtherCAT Terminals.
