Doktorarbeit auf Speed Wer es kurz und knackig mag, kann am 5. Juni live dabei sein, wenn das GraduateCenterLMU einlädt zum GC Speed Slam. Drei Minuten oder exakt 180 Sekunden haben die Teilnehmenden – allesamt promovieren gerade an der LMU – Zeit, um mit ihrer Forschung das Publikum mitzureißen. Die Beiträge kommen vor allem aus den Lebenswissenschaften: Veterinärmedizin, Medizin, Neurowissenschaft, Biologie. „Zum Beispiel werden wir uns auf die Suche nach dem tödlichen Potenzial von Karotten begeben und Einblicke in die Weltraummedizin erhalten“, freut sich Florian Kniffka, der Organisator des Slams. Highlight of this week: Workshop with supervisors from the LMU Medical Faculty! We would like to thank the excellent panellists, Professor Anne Krug, Professor Eva Rehfuess, Professor Axel Imhof and Professor Andreas Zwergal, as well as the Munich Medical Research School and the engaged audience, whose many questions and comments made the event lively and a real highlight. For almost two hours, there was an intensive discussion on how to identify suitable PhD candidates during the recruitment process. The discussion continued with an exchange on how project design can support early career researchers in their professional and personal development. Supervision styles and the interaction between supervisors and supervisees were discussed. The event concluded with questions on how to support supervisors in their demanding and exciting challenge of qualifying and guiding junior researchers. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Professor Nikolaus Plesnila, Chairman of the Doctoral Committee, and Dr Antje Hentrich from the MMRS for their excellent co-moderation and support!
