  • Are your edge devices really secure? 🔎 Edge devices like firewalls, routers, and VPN gateways are essential for connecting Operational Technology (OT) environments, but they also pose a major security risk. Acting as a bridge between internal and external networks, they are prime targets for cyberattacks, often without companies realizing it. The Five Eyes intelligence alliance has now issued urgent security guidelines to address this growing threat. Their recommendations focus on securing management interfaces, strengthening access controls, improving forensic capabilities, and phasing out outdated devices. Without these measures, edge devices remain an open door for attackers. Our latest it-sa 365 knowledge article with a focus on OT security explains how to better protect your infrastructure based on these guidelines. • When intelligence agencies issue a public warning, you know it’s serious 🚨 Edge devices are the hidden weak spot in many Operational Technology (OT) environments. These small but powerful components connect internal networks to the outside world, making them essential for operations, but also a target for cyberattacks. Western intelligence agencies are now raising the alarm. For the first time, the Five Eyes alliance — comprising intelligence services from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand — has issued security guidelines for edge and IoT devices in OT. Their warning is clear: these devices are being actively exploited, especially in Critical Infrastructure. Lack of updates, weak authentication, missing forensic capabilities—attackers exploit these weaknesses to infiltrate networks and bypass traditional defenses. If your organization relies on OT, you cannot afford to ignore this threat. Our latest knowledge article as part of our ongoing OT security focus dives deeper into these risks and the new security recommendations. • Critical Infrastructure under attack? How new regulations and IAM can strengthen security 🔐 In our latest IT Security Talk, we discussed one of today’s most critical topics in cybersecurity: securing CI in an evolving regulatory landscape. With insights from Holger Berens, Chairman of Bundesverband für den Schutz Kritischer Infrastrukturen (BSKI) e.V. as well as Dirk Wahlefeld, Principal Solutions Architect at Imprivata, and our Community Manager Susanna moderating, we explored: 🔹 CI Framework Law, NIS2 & Cyber Resilience Act – What’s new in Germany’s legal framework? 🔹 Challenges for organizations – How to implement these regulations in practice. 🔹 Identity & Access Management (IAM) – Why IAM is a key pillar of CI security. 🔹 Holistic security strategies – How organizations can build resilience against cyber threats. One key takeaway: Protecting CI isn’t just about compliance, it’s about building a resilient security culture. Organizations must align strategy, technology, and collaboration to stay ahead of evolving threats. Thank you to Holger Berens and Dirk Wahlefeld for sharing your valuable insights! Missed the talk?
