As part of the EU Textile Strategy 2030, the EU prioritises consumer and worker safety and fair competition among businesses through several key strategies. This is achieved through the establishment of clear and consistent regulations for non-food products and economic operators. The EU invests in infrastructure and legal frameworks to enforce legislation at the borders. Furthermore, the EU develops tools like databases and joint surveillance campaigns to promote coordination among market surveillance authorities across the EU, ensuring a safer and more equitable marketplace.     Catch the masterclass on EU Textile Strategy 2030 and Its Business Impact Masterclass Part IV: EU Product Compliance and Market Surveillance on #ITMAconnect on-demand.    Join our special guest from the European Commission:    Mr Lennart Grundberg Policy Officer, Unit D3 for Market Surveillance (DG GROW) European Commission   Watch Now: https://lnkd.in/gfHnJW-a     Find Out More: https://lnkd.in/grgAPPkr   This Masterclass is exclusive to ITMAconnect subscribers only.     Do not have an #ITMAconnect account? “The adoption of the textile strategies and the EU’s circular economy plan encapsulates a new growth strategy for Europe that would open many opportunities - a more digitalised economy with greener and circular products from design to end-of-life management. While the new rules and standards are ambitious, they are being developed to ensure feasibility in implementation technically and economically, taking particular care of SMEs. In the end, these textile strategies are setting the stage for Europe to lead by example, becoming the trend, and eventually reaping the environmental, economic, and social benefits of higher value-added, higher skilled and better-paying jobs, rebuilding Europe’s industrial capacity.”     Ms Marie-Hélène Pradines  Head, Tourism and Textiles Unit (DG GROW)  European Commission    The EU Textile Strategy encapsulates the entire lifecycle of textiles products, while supporting the ecosystem in the green and digital transitions. It addresses the way textiles are designed and consumed, including by looking also at sustainable technological solutions and innovative business models.     The EU Textile Strategy 2030 and Its Business Impact Masterclass Part III: Eco-design Requirements for Sustainable Products will focus on:  - New design requirements for Eco-design for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR)  - DPP (Digital Product Passport)   - Activation timeline     Join our special guest from the European Commission:    Mr Carsten Wentink   Policy Officer, Unit B4 for Sustainable Products (DG ENV)    Watch Now: https://lnkd.in/gSjMzmR7    Find Out More: https://lnkd.in/dwD2atFP   This Masterclass is exclusive to ITMAconnect subscribers only.     Do not have an #ITMAconnect account? While textile fibre blends complicate recycling processes, they offer diverse functionalities crucial for today's market. Panellists from the Innovator Xchange Virtual Edition: Sustainability and Circularity webinar discussed on the necessity and challenges of recycling blended materials, and the need for such challenges to be addressed at the design phase. Legislation like the EU's extended producer responsibility (EPR) scheme aims to boost recycled fibre competitiveness against virgin materials, though global cooperation and substantial investments are deemed essential for achieving sustainable textile practices.    Read on to find out the importance of evolving technologies to manage the complexity of recycling blended materials, and integrate recycled materials economically and sustainably. The 2030 EU Textile Strategy advocates a circular economy that focuses on reducing, reusing, and recycling textile waste. To support this, the EU has implemented the 'polluter pays' principle via an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme designed specifically for textiles sold in the EU27 markets. This scheme includes eco-design requirements and methodologies that assess your product's eco-design score, influencing your EPR contribution accordingly. In the EU Textile Strategy 2030 and Its Business Impact Masterclass Part II: Textile Product End-of-life Management, the topics covered include: - EU Circular Economy Action Plan and Textiles Strategy - Advancements in Textile Waste Management Legislation - Implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Scheme - Next Steps for Legislation Implementation Don’t miss the interview with our special guest from the European Commission, Unit B3 for “From Waste to Resources” (DG ENV). On 26 January 2024 the European Commission adopted its position (negotiating mandate) on the regulation prohibiting products made with forced labour on the EU market. The legislation prohibits products made using forced labour to be placed and made available on the EU market. To achieve this, a structured framework was established to empower the EU to prohibit and remove a product from the single market if it is shown to involve forced labour, regardless of whether it is produced within the EU or imported into the EU.    Topics covered in the EU Textile Strategy 2030 and Its Business Impact Masterclass Part I: Forced Labour includes:   - EU's Comprehensive Approach to Combatting Forced Labour   - Legislation Scope and Activation Timeline   - Understanding the Legislation’s Mechanisms      Join our special guest from the European Commission:   Mr Lennart Grundberg   Policy Officer, Unit D3 for Market Surveillance (DG GROW)   Watch Now: https://lnkd.in/gQUikVWv     Find Out More: https://lnkd.in/gWqFDEJD   This Masterclass is exclusive to ITMAconnect subscribers only.     Do not have an #ITMAconnect account?
