Sonuby has reached #1 of the German Weather App Charts 🤯🚀🎉 Yesterday I was featured by both iFUN.de and itopnews on their blogs as well as by meteoblue on their facebook channel. This caused an enormous amount of downloads, 1200 in just 9 hours, and about 150 new trials, most of them the annual subscription. This seems to have triggered the App Store algorithm which is now causing further downloads and new trials almost every 10 minutes. I had a super short night because I’m beyond excited 😄 Let’s see where this is going 🚀 #BuildInPublic

The features for version 1.6 are set, let's get to work... 💪🚧 While the focus of the last Sonuby Weather release was on design, the next big update will focus on providing much more data and customization: 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝘀 You'll be able to customize each forecast to focus on what matters most to you. Whether it's UV index, felt temperature, or other variables, you'll be able to customize each forecast module, such as current, 7-day, hourly, and 7-day meteograms, and add, remove, or rearrange variables. 𝗛𝘆𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗼𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝘀 Through a lot of feedback, I have learned that many of my users are interested in detailed forecasts for the next few hours. So I'm replacing the current weather forecast with a brand new nowcast module. It will provide 10 minute forecasts for things like rain, cloud cover and wind up to 2 hours ahead. 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝘀 In keeping with Sonuby's goal of providing as much information as possible, I decided to give both the hourly and weekly forecasts a much-needed overhaul. The weekly overview will be switched to a vertical layout to allow for better information density (remember, you'll be able to add your favorite variables!) and an optional 14-day forecast. The redesign of the hourly forecast will focus on better readability and usability. 𝗭𝗼𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀 While the current 7-day meteogram is already great and my personal highlight of Sonuby, some users wanted to be able to zoom in to focus on e.g. a 2-day forecast. This will be possible in version 1.6. 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝘀 It's always interesting to see how people actually use your application. What I quickly realized when I looked over the shoulder of some of my users was that people were using it differently than I expected. EVERYONE tried to tap on forecasts and was confused that nothing happened. That's why Sonuby 1.6 will make all forecasts interactive in a useful way. For example, you can tap on the temperature of a certain day in the week view. Currently nothing happens. With 1.6, a detailed temperature graph for that day will open. New design, new features... Sonuby 1.5.0 IS OUT! 🚀 After three months of intense design and programming, I'm happy to announce the release of the first major update in 2024. Originally planned as Sonuby 2.0, I've decided to release the many new features I want to add this year not in a single 2.0 version, but in smaller updates throughout the year. This update marks the beginning of that series and lays the foundation for many new features I have planned and the long-term vision I have for Sonuby. Daily temperatures are now displayed from minimum to maximum... ... like most other weather apps do. This was a request from one of my users, which I'm particularly happy to implement. "Aren't there enough weather apps already?" 🤔 This is probably the question I have been asked the most over the years. It's true, the weather app market is pretty saturated and it would be foolish to think that competing against the biggest players like Windy, The Weather Channel, etc. would have any chance of success. Especially for a solopreneur like me. ❌ But that's not my goal for Sonuby Weather. Weather is one of the most diverse industries to work in. There are thousands of different reasons why people need weather data. "What will the weather be like tomorrow" is just the tip of the iceberg. 🧠 People who suffer from migraines, for example, may be interested in the conditions that will trigger or prevent their next migraine. 🚜 Farmers need to know the trafficability of their land. 👉 My long-term goal for Sonuby is to make it a tool that allows people to check the weather the way they need it. Sonuby 1.4.0 was released last week, here's what's new. ✅ Reordering of locations: Now you can change the order of locations in your favorites or custom collections by simply tapping and holding a location and moving it to the desired location. ✅ Move locations between collections: Easily move locations between collections by swiping left on a location and tapping the move icon. ✅ Quick Delete: Deleting locations is now faster.
