Agrobiodiversity of home gardens at various altitudes in the sub-Himalayas of Pakistan: A study on the regions Kahuta and central Azad Kashmir." This research explores the agrobiodiversity of home gardens at various altitudes (ranging from 580m to 1700m above sea level) of the Punjab Subhimalayas in Pakistan. Data in the form of crop inventory, garden size and altitude measurements, and Interviews with the farmers/owners and local citizens were collected from over 30 gardens in the regions Kahuta and central Azad Kashmir. We can find similar studies in the Subhimalayas further east in India however there is a gap of ground-level data in the western Subhimalayas of Pakistan which this study aims to fill. 👉 Follow this link to learn more about this research and others on the website: https://lnkd.in/etbX_G_5

🔍 With the effective use of social media, particularly Instagram, farmers in rural areas can be reached to inform them about ongoing agricultural research. 🌱 Our PhD student Philip Schierning got interviewed during his field work in Batken, Kyrgyzstan. A local news media “Batken_life”, mostly active on Instagram, made several videos about his research and why he came to Batken. Visual content can simplify complex topics, increasing the willingness to engage with the information. Hashtags and location-based posts help target the right audience. Additionally, Instagram enables direct interaction, allowing researchers to answer questions and facilitate communication between the farming community and research. This approach helps present research in a practical and accessible way. While now walking through the streets of Batken, Philip was approached by people and directly got asked about the research. 👉 Watch one of the videos here:
