D&M Christmas Gift : Disneyland Discovery Bay Artwork by Harper Goff

So, here we are, it's December 24 and tonight is Christmas evening. I wish to all of you a Merry Christmas! Also, please note that D&M will be "closed" from tonight until January 6. No big announcement should happen in the meantime but i'll keep an eye anyway on the news and will post if something really big was announced.

However, for this last post on Disney and more i have a GREAT Christmas gift for you, and it is never-seen-before artworks by Imagineer and Nautilus designer Harper Goff for Disneyland legendary "land that never was", Tony Baxter's "Discovery Bay". Part of the concepts - specially the Nautilus and the Hyperion balloon - ended to be included in Disneyland Paris Discoveryland but this incredibly detailed Harper Goff artwork shows how the new land at Disneyland would have looked if it had been built.

The original Harper Goff artworks were sold in an auction last month and i did screen captures from the auction website pictures. In addition, i've "cleaned" the main one in B&W in the areas which were a bit dirty and even did a new version of it with a color background ( the one at the top ). But you also have the original B&W version below. The third picture, also from Harper Goff, is a different kind of concept-art showing the Nautilus and the Hyperion balloon .

The size of the file is huge - 93 x 63 cm - and, as it is sometime difficult to access them on Photobucket, you can download them on Wetransfer HERE or HERE until December 31st.

So, have a great holidays, see you soon, and in the meantime i remind you to don't miss the special offer on the acclaimed Disneyland Paris book which still run until my comeback in January. Check it HERE for full details and how to order the book.

Disneyland Paris " Les Mystères du Nautilus " Attraction - HD Video

Here is a great pictorial tribute to Disneyland Paris "Les Mystères du Nautilus" attraction which would not have been built without the help of the late great Tom Scherman. Below you'll find great pictures of the attraction AND those of you who never did the attraction will be happy to know that i have posted on Disney and more MAX a great HD video showing both the outside and the inside of DLP Discoveryland Nautilus.

Opened in 1994 thanks to the beautiful work of Discoveryland show-producer Tim Delaney along with dozens of WDI artists, sculptors, etc..."Les Mystères du Nautilus" attraction couldn't have been built without Tom Scherman who, as Harper Goff had passed away, was the last one to know the secrets of the legendary submarine. Some of you may never had the luck to visit Disneyland Paris, and this visit of the Nautilus walk-through, thanks to great pictures and a HD video will give you a better idea of the amazing work that Tom and WDI Imagineers did on this attraction.

A special Jungle Cruise photo, artwork and video tribute

When Disneyland open in 1955, the Jungle Cruise attraction was there. Probably the oldest beloved "E" ticket in the park, it deserves a real tribute and, that's what we will do today!

Above, an attraction poster for Adventureland and the Jungle Cruise.
Below, Walt show the model of the Jungle Cruise boat.

Five different artwork for the attraction.

Two pictures of the WDI Jungle Cruise model.

Walt discussing with Harper Goff, show designer of the attraction on a Jungle Cruise boat.

An overview shot of the Jungle Cruise in 1955

All aboard !

Different scenes of the attraction from old picture and postcards , circa 1955, and one picture of Walt firing at the hippos!

Walt Disney and Nehru, at that time India's prime minister: all aboard for the Jungle Cruise!

A recent picture of the Jungle Cruise boat, after the boats were re-designed.

Probably the two best Jungle Cruise merchandise items: The great miniaturist Robert Olszewski did a fantastic miniature of the Jungle Cruise attraction, still available at the park.

And let's not forget the great Jungle Cruise boat replica done by Kevin Kidney and Jody Dailey for Disney shopping, out of stock now, but often available on e bay.

But before you go, don't miss this old video with Walt himself presenting the attraction to you and former India's legendary prime minister Nehru.
