"Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire", New Castle Show Coming to WDW Magic Kingdom Castle Stage

This summer, an all-new live stage show “Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire” will start on the castle stage at Walt Disney World Resort!

From the Disney Parks Blog: This summer, the all-new live stage show “Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire” will grace the grandest stage at Walt Disney World Resort with magic, music and merriment! Against the majestic backdrop of Cinderella Castle, Mickey Mouse and his friends will welcome favorite characters from some of Disney’s newest classics: “The Princess and the Frog,” “Tangled” and “Frozen.”

In “Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire,” Mickey and his troupe of Merry Makers have been preparing to host a joyous festival and have ventured far and wide to invite friends from other lands to join their celebration. From the Land of the Bewitching Bayous, Goofy has invited Tiana, Naveen and Louis to add a little spice of New Orleans jazz to the party. From the Land of the Enchanted Woods, Donald Duck brings some new friends he met at the Snuggly Duckling, and Daisy introduces us to her special guests, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. Finally, Mickey shares a surprise with Minnie, as he has traveled to the Land of the Mystic Mountains to invite Olaf, Anna and Elsa, who contributes a blast of her icy magic. It all culminates in a grand dance, as the Merry Makers invite all their special guests to join in the fun on this special day in Magic Kingdom Park!

Marking the first appearances by Tiana and Rapunzel in a show on the castle stage, “Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire” brings to life beloved Disney stories both classic and contemporary in a spectacular performance featuring an original song, memorable music, lively dancing and special effects magic.

DLP Update : Meet Mickey - "Rencontre avec Mickey" - Now Open at DLP Fantasyland ! - Updated with new Pictures and Video

Yesterday's article about Disneyland Paris was all about something going wrong in the park restaurants, and today's article will put a weight on the other pan of the scale as the long awaited "Meet Mickey" is now open at Fantasyland. Works to transform what was the Fantasyland Festival Stage were quite long but as you will see on the video below the final result worth the wait!

Honestly, i think that DLPI Imagineers did a real good job in the transformation of the Fantasyland Festival Stage. For what i can see on the video it looks elegant and the theming is very good. My only concern is that the whole decor have a kind of style that you probably expect to find more in Main Street than in Fantasyland, but that's not a big problem.

The meeting itself with Mickey is short of course but, again, Mickey's dressing room looks very well themed. During the wait before the meet with Mickey guests can watch eleven classic Mickey cartoons, alternatively in french or english, and the loop apparently last 40 minutes which should be fine. Apparently these are shorter versions but had a 5.1 remix and the surround effects as well as the animated short definition is excellent.

From what i've read this new Meet Mickey version looks much better than the "Backstage Magic with Mickey Mouse" in Florida but it's a bit a pity that - probably for cost reasons or too many different European languages - DLP didn't took the opportunity to introduce the great "talking Mickey" as they did in Florida. However, although it's not really an attraction as there is nothing to ride i think that this new meet and greet location was done with the genuine magic touch that WDI Imagineers only can put when they create something new in a Magic Kingdom.

During the short meeting with Mickey, DLP guests - as you will see on the video below - can film or take pictures but a DLP photographer is also there to shoot a digital picture that guests can buy at the exit. The only problem is the pictures price and many guests will probably find it a bit high - 1 picture: 15€ ( $19 ! ) - 3 pictures : 25€ ( $30 ! ). I'll be curious to know how many they will sell per day at this price... That said, no one is forced to buy one if they don't want, so just make sure your have enough battery in your camera when you'll get inside this new great looking place to meet with Mickey. And now, discover the real thing with this video filmed by Jess21070609, whom i thanks a lot.

And, talking about DLP, The Disneyland Paris "From Sketch to Reality book" which will tell you all about the creation of the park with 320 pages and 750 pictures and WDI renderings always has a special offer and is now available with immediate shipping! Reviews from all those who have already received the book are "over the top" so, place your order now for a gorgeous collector's edition copy while you can get a 20% discount on this wonderful book! Happy Birthday, Mickey !

He don't look like but Mickey Mouse, born November 18, 1928, is now 83! Through all these years his appearance changed and from the 2D animation of Steamboat Willie or Fantasia to his latest CGI 3D style, Mickey has succeed to stay younger than ever!

With Walt he was there at the opening of Disneyland, and when Walt was saying that "it all started with a mouse" we all know what mouse he was talking about...

Since Disneyland opening Mickey was there every day, in any Disney theme park in the world. The character costume also evolved through the years but the latest innovation and without a doubt a magical improvement is the "talking Mickey" that WDW guests can now experience. And the 1.2 version is better than ever and really impressive as you will see in the video below.

So, Happy Birthday, Mickey, and see you soon in the parks and, hopefully, on screen!

Thru the Mirror - A 1936 Mickey Mouse Jewel

Here is one of my favorite Mickey Mouse cartoon. "Thru the mirror" was released in 1936 and when you see this kind of Disney "top quality" short animated, it helps to understand why Mickey became so popular back in these old days. The skills of Disney's animators are incredible, and no doubt that 1936 audiences were totally amazed, it's so magical, even now...it's just perfect.

The movie also announce the future "Alice in Wonderland", and the cards sequence is as well animated as it will be in "Alice", fifteen years later.

Enjoy it!

Happy 80th Birthday , Mickey!

Mickey Mouse turns 80 today, and we have to admit that he still looks pretty young for somebody supposed to be 80 years old!

In his long career which began in 1928 in the short animated Steamboat Willie, Mickey received all possible awards and even became a Pop-art icon thanks to Andy Warhol! See you at 90, Mickey!

The beautiful Mickey painting on the top by Matt Mew was originally done for Mickey's 60th anniversary.
