Pixar "Inside Out" Characters Revealed !

The five characters that you see above are - along with the little girl named Riley - the ones which represents the different emotions in Pete Docter and Jonas Rivera's next Pixar animated movie "Inside Out" , a film which explores Riley emotions and how she react.

From Upcoming Pixar: "Amy Poehler voices Joy, the leader of the group; Lewis Black is Anger, Bill Hader is Fear, Mindy Kaling is Disgust, and Phyllis Smith is Sadness. They all work in tandem at a headquarters of sorts, watching Riley’s POV on a screen, adjusting her emotions, and storing her memories. Other areas of the mind, including Dream Production, Long-Term Memory, and Imaginationland, are connected to the headquarters by a literal Train of Thought."

"Things go awry when Joy and Sadness are forced out of the headquarters, leaving Anger, Fear, and Disgust to operate Riley. An extended sequence showed the trio struggling with this task as Riley interacts with her parents. Turns out we don’t just see inside Riley’s mind; her mother and father also have unique groups of emotions. The three teams play off of each other in a fast-paced dinner table scene that got a ton of laughs at the D23 panel."

Monsters University : The Greek Council

Pixar has released a series of pictures showing the different Monsters University students association. The pics above and below are the french version but the english one are the same, or almost, please click on each picture to see them in high-res.

Above, CLAIRE WHEELER, GREEK COUNCIL PRESIDENT and BROCK PEARSON, GREEK COUNCIL VICE PRESIDENT

Claire Wheeler is the Greek Council president at Monsters University, and this year she is one of the chosen emcees for the school’s annual Scare Games. Don’t be fooled by Claire’s brooding exterior and monotone drawl—banal in appearance, on the inside she is a galvanizing force of school spirit who diligently warns the Scare Game participants of the dangers they will face.

Brock Pearson, this preppy-looking fraternity monster has been chosen to assist the Greek Council president in emceeing the school’s annual Scare Games. Jock-like and what some might refer to as a “meathead,” Brock is a loud, enthusiastic emcee who relishes the danger of the Scare Games’ challenges.

Below, OOZMA KAPPA (OK)

A collection of wholesome, good-natured misfits, the adorable brothers of Oozma Kappa (OK) have bonded over their inability to make it through the Scaring Program. With only four bodies in the house, they don’t even have enough members to compete in the Scare Games. What they lack in Scariness and self-confidence, they make up for in heart.

Next association ROAR OMEGA ROAR (RΩR)

The Roar Omega Roar (RΩR) fraternity is made up of the best of the best. They’re the smartest, most skilled, Scariest monsters at Monsters University, and come from families with a long, proud history of Scaring. While the RΩRs may be preppy in dress, they are ferocious in action and downright ruthless, if necessary. Self-declared as the most elite house on campus, the RΩRs are lead by Johnny Worthington who presides over the house like an all-powerful monarch. Eager to continue their Scare Games winning streak, the RΩRs will do whatever it takes to stay on top.

Next are PYTHON NU KAPPA (PNK)

Pretty in pink, the sisters of Python Nu Kappa (PNK) are not to be underestimated. Led by their fearless queen bee Carrie, these ladies are smart, cold-hearted and merciless. Covered in pink from head to toe, the PNKs sweet exterior quickly turns terrifying when the Scare Games begin.

Next, are the JAWS THETA CHI (JOX)

Big on brawn but short on brainpower, the Jaws Theta Chi (JOX) fraternity brothers are rarely seen without their flashy letterman jackets. The JOX are brutal competitors who never hesitate to do whatever it takes to beat their opponent, even if it’s breaking the rules. Despite practically living at the gym or on the field, these sports-loving monsters often prove that bigger doesn’t always mean better when it comes to Scaring.

Next is SLUGMA SLUGMA KAPPA (EEK)

The athletic sisters of Slugma Slugma Kappa (EEK) spend most of their days working out and running drills to perfect their Scaring skills. Their initiation is a triathlon, and training together 24/7 has strengthened the bonds of sisterhood so much so that these strong, self-assured girls are ready to out-work and out-scare any monster they encounter together.

The last association is ETA HISS HISS (HSS)

The Eta Hiss Hiss (HSS) sorority has been around since the beginning of Monsters University and the members are as mysterious as they are terrifying. The HSS sisters might be pale, mysterious and sullen, but these intimidating Goth girls are fierce competitors and tough as nails. Fittingly, their most distinguished alumna is one of the most powerful, Scary monsters on campus who every new Scare student strives to impress—Dean Hardscrabble.

UP! box-office is flying hiiiiigh !

Photobucket

Believe it or not, but UP! is on its way to become not only one of the highest grossing Pixar movie but ALSO one of the highest grossing Disney movie of all time!!!

With $264 Millions UP! box-office rise above the B.O of: A Bug's life ($162 M), Toy Story ($191 M), Ratatouille ($206 M), Wall-E ($223 M), Cars ($244 M), Toy Story 2 ($245 M), Monsters Inc ($255 M) and The Incredibles ($261 M)! The only Pixar movie with a bigger box-office is Finding Nemo with $339 millions.

Also, UP! already did better than ANY Disney movie of the "new animation era", i.e since The Little Mermaid. Yep, better than Aladdin, Tarzan, Beauty and the Beast, and all the others except the Lion King who did $312 M.

Incredible, isn't it! And, considering that UP! was released only five weeks ago, we can reasonably think that UP! may do better than Nemo or The Lion King. With $339 M and all the upcoming summer blockbusters (Harry Potter, etc...) Nemo record may be hard to beat, but i wouldn't be surprised if UP! finally beat the $312 M of The Lion King.

Now, remember all these "prophets" who keep saying some weeks ago that with such a story (old man, etc...) UP! could be Pixar first failure? And not to mention toy manufacturer Thinkway who decided to don't produce ANY toy inspired by UP!
What a clear vision these guys have! Congratulations, folks! Next year, please keep for you any prophecy to avoid being ridiculous!

Anyway, i'm curious to see how long UP! will keep flying high, and of course i send my best congratulations (and without irony, this time) to Pete Docter, Bob Peterson, John Lasseter, and everybody at Pixar who worked on this wonderful movie!

UP! Review !

I know you've all read UP! reviews on any Disney fan web site, but in France the movie won't be released before July 29. I had the opportunity to see it two days ago, and so here is my review. And also a rare picture above, not from the movie.

Almost all the reviews of the movie are good, and there is a good reason for that: UP! is a new Pixar wonder! It's a wonderful movie, really. Pete Docter said recently that he was proud of the editing at the beginning of the movie of the scenes showing the meeting and the life of Carl and Ellie, and he can indeed be proud as it is simply perfect...

All the movie is perfect, in fact. Great characters and story telling, and the movie goes from one kind of emotion to another. The animals characters whether it's Kevin the female bird or the talking dogs are simply hilarious. And the action scenes are brilliantly edited. I don't want to tell too much about the story itself to my Europeans readers as the movie is not released yet in most European countries, but all i can say is this: expect something different than the others Pixar animated movies and you won't be disappointed.

You know that Pixar animators are huge fans of the work of Hayao Miyazaki, and after i saw UP! i thought that, of all the Pixar movies, UP! was the closer of Miyazaki's world. I won't be surprised if it was an unofficial tribute to him. By the way, John Lasseter himself was in Japan last week, for a visit at Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli...

Just before UP!, i saw "Partly Cloudy" the short animated movie, and it's also wonderful. There, too, it's totally different from the previous one, "Presto", but it's a delightful little short, now available in HD on the U.S ITunes Store...or see it eventually on Youtube.

Finally, i want to add that i saw UP! in 2D, not in 3D so i can't make any comments on the 3D effects, but, from what i've heard the 3D effects are subtle. Anyway, whether you can see it in 2D or 3D , don't miss it as, really, frankly, UP! is a wonderful movie and i won't be surprised if UP! receives next year the Best Animated Picture Academy Award, as it fully deserves it!
