    Did you know that in Denmark the district heating sector is the sector that can contribute the most to the government's goal of reducing the country’s CO2 emissions by 70%? District heating is the most widespread and efficient way of heating homes and buildings in Denmark, currently covering more than half of the country's total heating needs. Today, over 60,000 km of district heating pipes supply more than 1,757,000 households with heat equalling 65% of all Danish households. A full 61% of district heating energy comes from green energy sources, and the goal is for it to be 100% CO2-neutral by 2030. How do we achieve this goal? Part of the answer is integrated heat pump stations, solar heating systems, and scalable thermal energy storages.     Saudi Arabia has set ambitious goals for renewable energy, aiming to expand its share of renewable power to 50% by 2030, ultimately reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2060. At Aalborg CSP, we hope to assist the Kingdom on this ambitious renewable energy journey. Next week, we set course for Riyadh, where we will participate in Solar & Storage Live KSA & Future Energy Live KSA. This event is Saudi Arabia’s largest renewable energy exhibition, celebrating the technologies at the forefront of the transition to a greener, smarter, and more energy-efficient system. Our representatives, Hammam S. and Miguel Herrador Moreno, will be sharing best practices from Aalborg CSP’s renewable energy technology and project portfolio.     As stated in a recently published article in DBDH’s Hot & Cool Magazine, Large Thermal Energy Storage (#LTES) solutions are a game-changer for district heating and other large-scale applications – and we couldn’t agree more. Both high- and low temperature storage technologies are key in securing a stable and cost-effective energy supply in the future and likewise, vital in achieving both security of supply and energy independence. Large-scale energy storages enable the decoupling of production and demand and thereby assist in stabilizing the energy system while minimizing the expensive peak load production. We are proud to have been part of the LTES project in Høje Taastrup – a great example of both flexible and efficient sector coupling of electricity and district heating. #ChangingEnergy #PTES

By storing excess heat from renewable sources like 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀, LTES reduces electricity consumption during peak periods and enhances profitability for plant operators.     We are pleased to announce that we have partnered with the Danish geothermal heating company, Innargi, to supply an integrated heat pump station of approx. 18 MW for a large geothermal project in Aarhus, Denmark. The heat pump station, equipped with a 10 MW electrical heat pump, will capture energy from underground geothermal water, which will then be transferred to the client’s supply area in the northern part of Aarhus. In close collaboration with Solid Energy A/S, Aalborg CSP has designed a modular hydrocarbon-based heat pump, capable of handling the - at times - fluctuating flow of the geothermal water while delivering the desired high supply temperature. The heat pump station is part of a larger geothermal project which, when completed, will consist of 14-17 geothermal wells distributed across seven locations in Aarhus.
