And now it is time to reflect on the significance of the award and on the year that has passed since we received the award. “𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐸𝑌 𝑎𝑤𝑎𝑟𝑑 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑏𝑒𝑒𝑛 𝑎 𝑣𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑑𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑜𝑓 𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑏𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑚𝑜𝑑𝑒𝑙 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑓𝑎𝑚𝑖𝑙𝑦-𝑜𝑤𝑛𝑒𝑑 𝑠𝑡𝑟𝑢𝑐𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑖𝑠 𝑏𝑎𝑠𝑒𝑑 𝑜𝑛 𝑎 𝑠𝑒𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑐𝑜𝑟𝑒 𝑣𝑎𝑙𝑢𝑒𝑠 𝑤ℎ𝑖𝑐ℎ ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑚𝑒𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑏𝑎𝑠𝑖𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑔𝑙𝑜𝑏𝑎𝑙 𝑠𝑢𝑐𝑐𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑎 𝑓𝑜𝑐𝑢𝑠 𝑜𝑛 𝑖𝑛𝑛𝑜𝑣𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑝𝑜𝑛𝑠𝑖𝑏𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦,” says Jacob Kjær, Group Director, Advanced Manufacturing, AVK Holding A/S. AVK's history, dating back to 1941, is proof of how a small, locally based company can grow globally without losing its core values. Under Niels Aage Kjær’s leadership AVK has grown from a machine shop with three employees to a global group of companies with more than 5,000 employees. “𝐼 ℎ𝑜𝑝𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑚𝑦 𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑦 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐴𝑉𝐾'𝑠 𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑦 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑏𝑒 𝑎 𝑠𝑡𝑟𝑜𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑛𝑠𝑝𝑖𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑝𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑒𝑠 𝑎𝑠 𝑎𝑛 𝑒𝑥𝑎𝑚𝑝𝑙𝑒 𝑜𝑓 ℎ𝑜𝑤 𝑙𝑜𝑛𝑔-𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑚 𝑖𝑛𝑣𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝑖𝑛𝑛𝑜𝑣𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑒𝑚𝑝𝑙𝑜𝑦𝑒𝑒𝑠 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑐𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝑠𝑢𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑔𝑟𝑜𝑤𝑡ℎ. Being true to one's own values, believing in one's product, showing persistence and diligence, as well as the ability to build a skilled team, are precisely the qualities that have created success for AVK. During the last year, we have continued to pursue new opportunities, embrace innovation, and drive positive change within the business. 𝐀 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 💧📈 Denmark is a world-class leader in water management solutions and is home to several of the world's leading water companies. We also have a strong ecosystem of SMEs, research communities and authorities. At the same time, the world is facing a severe water crisis, and urgently needs Denmark’s leadership on water. But the Danish exports in the water area is not growing as expected. As a part of the government’s work on growth plans, we are therefore in urgent need of a water growth plan as well. Danish Industry - DI Vand / DI Danish Water Industries has committed itself to the United Nations to work on a national growth plan for the Danish water sector – and has already made a proposal with concrete elements for a growth plan. This week, AVK hosted a meeting with Danish Industry and the Danish deputy prime minister and chairman of Venstre, Danmarks Liberale Parti, Troels Lund Poulsen as a part of presenting the minister for the strengths in the Danish water sector. Chairman of the AVK Holding Board and owner of AVK, Niels Aage Kjær presented our wide range of solutions in our showroom and participated in the following roundtable discussion. “𝑈𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑟𝑠ℎ𝑖𝑝 𝑜𝑓 𝑁𝑖𝑒𝑙𝑠 𝐴𝑎𝑔𝑒 𝐾𝑗æ𝑟, 𝐴𝑉𝐾 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑏𝑒𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒 𝑎 𝑔𝑙𝑜𝑏𝑎𝑙 𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑟 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛 𝑣𝑎𝑙𝑣𝑒𝑠. Thank you for visiting us. We highly appreciate the opportunity to contribute to the discussion on increasing exports in the Danish water sector and to highlight and demonstrate the role AVK can play in driving this growth. At the beginning of the year, HOFOR announced a design competition with the requirement of a “royal look” for the manhole covers to be installed this year. While it may not be the most conventional way to honour a royal couple, the opportunity was seized to create something unique. And the first royal manhole cover is now in place. The competition was won by 19-year-old Blanka Eros. Her design features silhouettes of the royal couple in the centre, surrounded by buildings from across Denmark. “𝐼𝑡’𝑠 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑗𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑎 𝑏𝑒𝑎𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑓𝑢𝑙 𝑖𝑙𝑙𝑢𝑠𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝐵𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑘𝑎 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑑𝑟𝑎𝑤𝑛. Randers Jernstøberi A/S was responsible for producing these unique covers, that has been cast at Furnes Jernstøperi AS in Norway. Randers Jernstøberi has sold 400 royal manhole covers to HOFOR, in two different versions, a positive and negative design, and the first one fittingly placed at Amalienborg in Copenhagen. “𝑊𝑒 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑦 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑑 𝑡𝑜 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑑𝑢𝑐𝑒𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑐𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝐻𝑂𝐹𝑂𝑅,” says Hans Lykke Jensen, General Manager, Randers Jernstøberi. “𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑑𝑒𝑠𝑖𝑔𝑛, 𝑏𝑎𝑠𝑒𝑑 𝑜𝑛 𝐵𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑘𝑎’𝑠 𝑑𝑟𝑎𝑤𝑖𝑛𝑔, 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑜𝑛𝑙𝑦 𝑡𝑒𝑙𝑙𝑠 𝑎 𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑦 𝑏𝑢𝑡 𝑎𝑙𝑠𝑜 𝑚𝑒𝑒𝑡𝑠 𝐻𝑂𝐹𝑂𝑅’𝑠 𝑓𝑢𝑛𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝑟𝑒𝑞𝑢𝑖𝑟𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑠. However, only those that need to be replaced due to wear and tear, and only those removed this year, will be replaced with the Frederik and Mary cover. Randers Jernstøberi has delivered several special designed manholes covers and Copenhagen already boasts a range of beautiful manhole covers, offering a lot of art at foot level. #AVKgroup #ExpectAVK

Michael Ramlau-Hansen from AVK Holding introduced them to AVK, our history and our products. Afterwards, Business Development Director in AVK Smart Water, Gerner Knudsen presented our AVK Smart Water solutions. The delegation was also shown around in our Showroom at AVK International and had a tour of the production facility. The tour was arranged by The Water Technology Alliance (WTA) program under The Trade Council in the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The purpose of WTA is knowledge sharing between the North American and Danish water industry to promote the exchange of views and experiences within the water and wastewater field. It is a collaboration between American utilities and authorities and Danish utilities and companies. The collaboration originates in an agreement between the Californian state government and the Danish government, which was signed in 2016. Both AVK Holding A/S and American AVK Company actively participate in this collaboration, where we contribute with knowledge about our role in relation to the Danish water supply and wastewater management. These inputs are then translated into American terms, with American AVK playing the major role. #ExpectAVK #AVKgroup #cooperation #partnership #AVKSmartWater

𝐖𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 💙 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝟑𝐃 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠. Every day, AVK solutions help deliver clean water and sustainable energy to millions of people in households and industries all over the world. Innovation is essential to AVK and one of our five core values that act as our guiding principles and set the direction for how we run our business. We focus on innovation and development of new and optimised products of high quality and with a long lifespan. With an innovative approach to the development and design of our products and solutions, we remain adaptive to current and future market demands. Recently, when we had to update some plastic moulds for some of our existing products, the Tech department in AVK Holding A/S together with AVK International and AVK Plast A/S wanted to investigate how we could update the design. In one of the cases, we had a product that needed a lot of machining of the top. To solve that challenge we chose to 3D print the entire inner core in a larger injection moulding tool. The 3D print is produced by the Danish Technological Institute. “3𝐷 𝑝𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑒𝑐ℎ𝑛𝑜𝑙𝑜𝑔𝑦 ℎ𝑎𝑠 ℎ𝑒𝑙𝑝𝑒𝑑 𝑠𝑜𝑙𝑣𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑒𝑛𝑔𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑑𝑢𝑐𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎 𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑖𝑠 𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑖𝑠𝑒 𝑒𝑛𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑚𝑎𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑠 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑛𝑒𝑐𝑒𝑠𝑠𝑎𝑟𝑦. By means of 3D printing we can now control the heat development in the tool, we have complete control over the process, and, in the end, we achieve a higher quality.
