We are proud to introduce BIMCO’s President Designate: Paul Pathy, CEO and adventurer.   Paul Pathy is not a man to pass up a good challenge. A former NCAA decathlete, he has twice climbed to 8000m, and this year will be swimming from Alcatraz to San Francisco. He is the third generation of CEO in the family business, Canada’s largest dry bulk shipowner, Fednav, and in May, he will be taking over as President of BIMCO when current President, Nikolaus Schües, ends his two-year term in May 2025.     “I am honoured to have the opportunity to represent our industry and take on the leadership of such a historic organisation. BIMCO’s Documentary Committee has adopted revised versions of its two standard crew management agreements, CREWMAN A (Cost plus fee) and CREWMAN B (Lump sum).   They are widely used in the industry and are companions to the ship management agreement, SHIPMAN, which forms the basis for these crew management contract forms. Due to changes in ship management practices, coupled with the need to include a significant number of freestanding BIMCO clauses as riders, a review of SHIPMAN 2009 was conducted last year and the revision of CREWMAN A and B was launched shortly after the publication of SHIPMAN 2024.   “We have been particularly mindful of the close relation between the ship and crew management agreements which is why the updated CREWMAN A and B forms are closely aligned with SHIPMAN 2024,” says Capt.
