It’s event season! Where do you go? What do you attend? We’re quite clear about the things we really like, and TechBBQ and The Drop have become essential meeting places for the startup community. Hard to understand climate tech without being at The Drop. Hard to connect with the new Nordic industries without being at TechBBQ. That’s why you attend, right? Meeting founders, investors, academic institutions, maybe a big company or two, different but important pieces in the puzzle. Event organizers and ecosystem builders are doing important work in our industry. Thank you to Ole Andersen and KapitalWatch for highlighting our perspective on the current appetite of pension funds for venture capital. “Our view isn’t that pension funds lack interest in venture investments—they’re simply being more selective,” shares Morten Halborg of Climentum Capital. While some pension funds' recent comments may seem discouraging, it's important to understand their hesitation. Many have reduced venture investments due to past over-allocation to alternatives. The issue isn't a lack of interest—it's a more discerning approach to investment choices.
