The Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) has recently made a submission to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment, and Water (DCCEEW) regarding the Bunbury area. Copenhagen Energy strongly support their advocacy for a renewable-powered Australia, particularly their focus on the huge potential of offshore wind. As ACF highlighted, “well-sited renewable energy is essential to protect nature and people from dangerous climate change.” Offshore wind, in particular, stands out as a key player in our renewable energy strategy — requiring far less land while harnessing some of the world’s most powerful wind resources. We are excited about the Cook Labor Government's introduction of the Environmental Protection Act Amendment Bill 2024, which promises to accelerate environmental approvals in Western Australia. This new parallel approvals system will streamline the process, allowing us to advance our offshore wind projects more efficiently while maintaining the state's high environmental standards. At Copenhagen Energy, we are committed to driving the green energy transition in Australia. Last year, the State granted our project the Lead Agency status. Combined with the new Act, we can further accelerate the development of the Leeuwin Offshore Wind Farm. These reforms will help us bring jobs, economic growth, and sustainable energy solutions to WA! 🔌⚡ Exciting Times Ahead for Western Australia’s Energy Sector! 🌟 The WA Government has proposed an update to the current market design to attract renewable energy investments. The proposal includes increase of payments and a floor (inflation adjusted!) for reserve capacity credits. Simplified the reserve capacity credits reflect the ability to deliver energy during peak hours. Offshore wind delivers more reliably in peak hours compared to any other renewable energy generation and can look forward to a substantial improvement of investment certainty.  This is in addition to the Federal Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS) being rolled out in WA! A BIG WIN in Germany!!! We have won in the latest EEG auction in Germany with our Peckelsheim repowering project. This marks CE's first new project in Germany - of many to come - and our first repowering project in general.  In 2021, CE acquired the wind farm consisting of three 750 kW turbines. After optimizing its operations, our team swiftly obtained the necessary permits for repowering. We will take down two of the old turbines and install a new 4.3 MW machine with a total height of 230 meters. With this repowering, we will increase the site’s production of clean energy by 600 %! Though the project may be small in size, it is a big milestone for CE and proves our strategy is working in Germany. Our pipeline in Germany is constantly growing, adding MWs to our wind, solar and BESS portfolio.
