European competitiveness is waning and dependency on energy imports continues to burden the economy. Solving these challenges requires a new industrial strategy that utilizes and supports Europe’s leading edge in select clean technologies. We call it Competitive Decarbonization.   Our ‘Blueprint for competitive decarbonization of European industry’ outlines how to enhance energy security, drive technological innovation, and bolster competitiveness – in policy and in practice.   For example:  - By investing in energy efficiency, renewables, and electrification, the EU can reduce gas consumption by 27 billion cubic meters, which equals 80% of last year’s total gas imports from Russia. - Applying one technology alone - variable speed drives - we can save EU industry EUR 22.6 billion in electricity costs annually. These savings can fuel investments in research, innovation, and growth and many more technologies are available.   Industry doesn’t need to wait for policy; it can begin its transformation today with proven solutions. However, with a consistent, predictable vision for European industry, policymakers can accelerate adoption and place Europe at the forefront of both global markets and industrial decarbonization. • Open 24/7, hospitals consume large amounts of energy, nearly three times the average commercial building. In 2024, Danish hospital Sygehus Sønderjylland partnered with Danfoss Climate Solutions, the local District Heating utility, and the local municipality to develop a retrofit solution for their outdated heating and cooling system. The hospital’s gas boilers were replaced by two highly efficient heat pumps, combined with heat recovery, to benefit from synergies between heating and cooling and ensure thermal comfort and cooling of the medical equipment. For Sygehus Sønderjylland, the hospital expects to reduce the amount of energy it purchases by 28,300 MWh each year. During surplus periods, the hospital will be able to supply 12,500 MWh of excess heat to the district heating grid, equal to an annual heat consumption of 740 Danish households. Read our case study to discover how Danfoss and Danish hospital is leading the way in decarbonizing healthcare. https://bit.ly/3FIkc74 #Decarbonization #CompetitiveDecarbonization #DistrictHeating #SustainableHeating #SustainableCooling #EnergyEfficiency

  • Water is humanity’s most precious resource. On World Water Day 2025, we join the industry in raising awareness of the ongoing global water crisis and the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. Every year, roughly 126 billion cubic meters of water are lost. Not only does this amount to nearly $40 billion of lost revenue annually but more importantly jeopardizes water access and harms human health and well-being. It also increases the energy consumption of water systems globally, as we produce and distribute far more water than we actually use. Many of the solutions already exist to reduce leakage rates, increase quality of water data, and lower energy consumption of water systems. These solutions must sit front and center in government plans to bolster water resilience and ensure safe and equitable water access for all. • We want to become CO2 neutral in our global operations by 2030. And we use Danfoss technologies to decarbonize our global campuses. In the last eight years, we have managed to increase energy productivity by 53% and decrease CO2 emissions by 30% at our 87,000 sqm campus in Wuqing, China. We have done this by applying the Danfoss three-step approach. We call it: Reduce, reuse, re-source. Watch the video and read the full case story here to see how it works: https://bit.ly/43Pzn8n #Decarbonization #DecarbonizationExplained #DecarbonizingIndustry #CarbonNeutral #WeAreDanfoss

  • As raw materials become increasingly scarce and more costly to extract, keeping resources in circulation is crucial. Where resources are kept in circulation, waste and pollution are reduced. At Danfoss, our circularity ambition addresses our existing product portfolio and our new product development. We invest in circularity to be responsible for our own environmental impact and to maintain, and improve, our competitiveness. As part of the Circularity in Plastics (CIP) project, Danfoss and 16 industry leaders explored how to take responsibility for the end of life of products by testing take-back, disassembly, and recycling models. In Denmark alone, up to 500,000 thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) are discarded yearly, highlighting the need for circular solutions. In 2024, we tested recycling options and launched a take-back pilot to reuse these materials in new products of the same high quality Danfoss is known for, but with significantly lower embodied emissions. At the CIP Conference held last month, we unveiled a TRV prototype made from recycled plastics, demonstrating how circularity can be applied in practice. While further development is needed before the recycled TRV reaches private homes, this innovation proves that circularity is possible when industry partners collaborate. Learn more about how we are designing our products towards a more circular economy, guided by the Danfoss Circularity Framework based on the principles of Rethink-Reduce-Recirculate. https://bit.ly/47jyTpB #CircularEconomy #Circularity #Sustainability #SustainableManufacturing

Sønderborg is leading the charge toward a carbon-neutral future.  At Danfoss, we believe in being part of the solution to engineer a better future. Nowhere is this vision clearer than in our hometown of Sønderborg, Denmark. Featured in an article in The Times, Sønderborg’s ProjectZero has become a global model for rapid and cost-efficient decarbonization.      Danfoss’s focus on energy efficiency was a good starting point for Sønderborg, and one that other municipalities could replicate. Between 2007-2020, ProjectZero has reduced energy-related CO2 emissions by 66%, and 32% of those reductions are from energy efficiency initiatives.        ProjectZero shows that the technologies are available to drive energy efficiency, sector coupling, and electrification. It’s even good business.        “Most places in the world are hardly getting started with energy efficiency,” says Lars Tveen, Chairman of ProjectZero. “They should come here and be inspired.”       Read the article here: https://lnkd.in/dNbphnVJ     #Decarbonization #EnergyEfficiency #Electrification #ProjectZero #EngineeringTomorrow #Danfoss #Sustainability #GreenTransition #Cities

  • Happy International Women’s Day!   At Danfoss, our foundation is our people. We offer an inspiring and inclusive workplace, where we unlock the full potential of our colleagues through empowering high-performing, diverse teams. We remain committed to fostering a culture where people are motivated and engaged, with a clear feeling of being included, valued, and respected.   However, like many others in our industry, we face systemic gender balance challenges in technical sales, operations, and engineering. To tackle these challenges, we have launched initiatives to fuel our pipeline of women leaders, including in-house and external training, mentoring and coaching programs, and talent development initiatives.   This year’s theme, #AccelerateAction, is a call to keep pushing forward — ensuring that everyone, regardless of gender, has the opportunity to thrive. By strengthening our people development efforts and focusing on inclusion and equal opportunities, we continue to drive meaningful change.   To celebrate the day, we are hosting events and programs across the globe, including in India, China, the USA, and Northern Europe, bringing our people together to inspire, engage, and accelerate action. #IWD2025 #AccelerateAction #WeAreDanfoss
