First half 2024 interim announcement: Staying the course despite market headwinds After three years of significant growth, organically and through M&A, the first half of 2024 has proved to be challenging with high volatility and lower demand in several key markets. Group sales amounted to EUR 5 billion, and Danfoss delivered a half-year EBITA of EUR 533 million corresponding to an EBITA margin of 10.6% against 12.4% last year. The lower demand is expected to continue for the rest of the year. We are staying the course and continue see growth drivers, such as decarbonization in industrial sectors, the rapid pace of digitalization, enabled by the data center industry, and electrification. But the lower demand is, unfortunately, expected to continue for the rest of the year. In the first half of the year, we continued to reduce our own emissions. In China, we signed a local Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) that, from 2025 onward, will reduce our annual scope 1 and 2 emissions in China by 33% and 9% globally. In total, we have now secured agreements to decarbonize 60% of our operations in China. Today, we had the honor of welcoming the U.S. Ambassador to Denmark, Alan Leventhal, to our Danfoss headquarters in Nordborg. Ambassador Leventhal's visit underscores the strong ties between Danfoss and the U.S. market. We had insightful discussions on the green transition and the pivotal role of energy efficiency in achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.   Ambassador Leventhal also took part in our decarbonization tour, which showcases how our headquarters achieved carbon neutrality in 2022 through energy-efficient solutions.   Reflecting on his experience, Ambassador Leventhal says, "I am deeply impressed by Danfoss' innovation and commitment to sustainability. The United States and Denmark have a long history of strong and enduring ties, and companies like Danfoss are at the heart of this transatlantic cooperation. During my visit to their headquarters in Denmark, I was struck by how Danfoss is leading the charge in developing energy-efficient, climate-friendly solutions. Danfoss' significant investments in the United States and their partnership with American industries underscore their vital role in building a greener economy for both our nations and the world."   At Danfoss, we are deeply committed to driving innovation and sustainability, and our decarbonization efforts are at the forefront of this mission. We are proud to be part of the Ideal4Green Doctoral Network program, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at tackling climate change and advancing sustainable energy systems. By partnering with the University of Vaasa, we are contributing to the development of future leaders in sustainable energy innovation. The Ideal4Green project, funded by the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Industrial Management Doctorate Program, focuses on integrating microgrids and optimizing renewable resources to meet decarbonization targets. Through this collaboration, two doctoral candidates will work closely with Danfoss and the University of Vaasa, gaining a unique blend of academic and industry experience. Our focus at Danfoss will be on analyzing grid requirements for large electrolyser facilities, a crucial step toward ensuring the future viability of these key components in our energy landscape. We look forward to the insights these talented candidates will bring as we continue to push the boundaries of what's possible in sustainable energy. What is intelligent and cost-efficient decarbonization? In our new Danfoss Sustainability Papers Series, we unpack how the correct order of actions can deliver the fastest decarbonization results. We call it Reduce, Reuse, Re-source. Using it in our headquarters campus in Nordborg, Denmark, we have seen a 79% reduction in heat consumption from manufacturing processes and buildings and a 41% reduction in electricity consumption. And all with a payback time of 3 years or less. This series aims to provide insights into our sustainability projects, learnings, and best practices to other industry peers and sustainability professionals.  Get more sustainability news by signing up to our Decarbonization Explained newsletter. https://bit.ly/45wgxlw #DecarbonizationExplained #Decarbonization #ESG #Energyefficiency #Greentransition #Sustainability

We are thrilled to announce that our high-pressure pumps have played a crucial role in setting a new world record for Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) energy efficiency! This achievement, led by the DESAL+ Living Lab in Spain, could have significant consequences for a thirsty world facing the combined threats of water scarcity and climate change. By utilizing Danfoss High Pressure Pumps' advanced positive displacement pumps, the project achieved an impressive energy efficiency of 1.861 kWh/m³, surpassing the previous record. This breakthrough not only reduces operational costs but also significantly lowers the carbon footprint of desalination plants, making fresh water more accessible to even more communities worldwide. We are proud to be part of this innovative solution and look forward to continuing our efforts together with industry partners in making SWRO and other high-pressure membrane processes even more energy efficient. Buildings account for around 40% of energy consumption and 36% of greenhouse gas emissions in the EU, yet renovation rates languish at a mere 1% per year – far below the 2.5% needed to meet net-zero by 2050 according to the IEA. The revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) mandates all buildings be decarbonized by 2050 (with key targets for 2030 also included). Andrea Voigt, VP, Head of Global Public Affairs at Danfoss, highlights the critical need for collaboration: "To change this, we need close collaboration between the public and private sector, hands-on experience, and pragmatic solutions. At Danfoss, we stand ready to support with readily available technology and welcome the Renovation Revolution’s initiatives to further spread the word." Check out this blog from Climate Group to discover more about how we can work together to accelerate deep renovations and drive energy efficiency. https://lnkd.in/eunKWMsT Join the conversation on driving up renovation rates in Europe! #RenovationRevolution #EnergyEfficiency

Connectivity solutions and #AI are changing the way #HVAC and #refrigeration systems operate. Building owners can utilize connected systems to optimize energy usage, receive alerts on pending maintenance issues and ensure their systems are performing at peak level. But what should building owners know before making the investment and how can they utilize connected systems to their full advantage. In Danfoss North America’s recent EnVisioneering Exchange #podcast, “Bringing Connectivity and AI into HVAC/R,” Michael Kellerman of EnVisioneering Exchange shares his insight on how connectivity and AI are changing the future of buildings and HVAC/R. https://bit.ly/4fzOsOU #Foodretail #Sustainability #AI #Connectivity #EnVisioneeringExchange

We're committed to becoming our customers' preferred decarbonization partner, but we can't do it on our own. Close partnerships have never been more important. It's a joint effort. To drive down emissions across the entire value chain, we need to learn from one another. And what better way to do that than by bringing in experts, partners, and cases to discuss what we know already works and how to implement it. That is exactly what we dive into in upcoming episodes of our Decarbonization Explained series. Take a closer look at what to expect from the series https://bit.ly/4cgY3YF #DecarbonizationExplained #Decarbonization #ESG #Energyefficiency #Greentransition #Climatechange #Sustainability #DecarbIndustries #DecarbTransport #DecarbBuildings #DecarbEnergysystems #Energymix
