  • 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐨-𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 🫀🔍 Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting this year's Basic Cardiometabolic Research PhD Course, focusing on Inflammation in Cardio-metabolic Disease, in collaboration with the Danish Cardiovascular Academy (DCA). This course focused on building important bridges between basic and clinical sciences, between cardiology and metabolism research, and this year, with a focus on inflammation, for very early stage PhD students, offering an entry point into the broad field of cardiometabolism, and between #DDEA and #DCA, strengthening collaboration 🤝 Over several days, PhD students explored the molecular mechanisms underlying diabetes, endocrine, and cardiovascular diseases, with inflammation as a central theme. Through lectures, interactive sessions, and networking with senior scientists, attendees gained a strong foundation in metabolism, cardiovascular function, and pathophysiology. The course prepared the attending early-career researchers for future interdisciplinary challenges 💡 We are proud to play a role in equipping the next generation of researchers with knowledge and networks 🌟 #DDEA #cardiometabolicresearch #phdcourse #inflammation #scientificcollaboration

This introductory course aims to close that gap, providing PhD students and postdocs with the tools needed to carry out modern, reproducible data analyses using #R. Led by Luke Johnston, Team Leader at Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus, the course combines live-coding lessons with hands-on exercises and group projects. You will leave with a solid understanding of how to apply open data practices in your research, with a focus on diabetes and metabolism 🔍 🗓️ 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐞: 14-16 January 2025 📍 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Scandic Aarhus City, Denmark ⏰ 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞: 1 December 2024 🔗 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫: https://buff.ly/3zKYtZO #DDEA #ReproducibleResearch #DataAnalysis #OpenScience Ninna Matthews

Peer review can often feel like a black box, but this workshop, planned as a result of the 2023 challenge, helped participants understand and harness this imperfect yet vital element in academia. The workshop uncovered the strengths, challenges, and evolving role of peer review in the academic ecosystem 🔃👥 The participants learned to navigate the editorial process, mitigate biases, and conduct constructive, ethical reviews, positioning themselves as key contributors to the research community 💡 Thank you to everyone who joined our workshop, instructor Dan Csontos, Director of Elevate Scientific and Elevate Scientific Academy, and DDEA organiser Gretchen Repasky 🤝 #DDEA #PeerReview #EarlyCareerResearchers #ResearchTraining #Academia
