Today the PhD student Mohammad Matin Bagheri from our group presented his work on the project DemoBECCS in the CERE seminar. The main topic of the presentation was an analytical solution to characterize the propagation behavior of CO2 with impurities during the injection of CO2 into a reservoir for storage. On the 7th & 8th of November DTU Chemistry held the annual PhD Symposium, a great event for young researchers to present their work. Also the PhD students from CERE Chemistry participated with a presentation by Maximilian Wirth, and several poster contributions by Omofolasewa Hillary Jayeola, Mohammad Matin Bagheri, zhenjie Wang, Aliakbar Roozshenas, Ding Xiong, and Antonio Cavalcante De Lima Neto, talking about their research projects. 🎉 PhD School Symposium 2024: A Day of Research and Collaboration at DTU Chemistry🎉 Thank you to everyone who joined us on November 7th for an inspiring day of research presentations, networking, and collaboration at the Annual PhD School Symposium! With over 100 attendees, the event brought together PhD students, faculty, and industry partners for insightful sessions and engaging discussions. We were thrilled to see our PhD students present their innovative research and connect with companies interested in advancing the future of chemical science and engineering. On the second day, we had a day only for the PhD students, where session with relevant topics, debates and teamwork were in focus. Two teambuilding exercise, organized by PhD ChemClub brought the PhD students together. This event reinforced the importance of collaboration between academia and industry, and we’re excited about the connections made and future opportunities it may lead to. Maryam Khosravi's paper on simulating salt precipitation has been published in International Journal of Greenhouse Gas Control. The study, conducted as part of the Greensand project, presents methods for assessing salt precipitation risks during CO2 storage using reservoir simulation techniques. https://lnkd.in/d34zrQXg

My paper on solving COSMO-based activity coefficient models has been published. It presents a robust and efficient solution to these models, while also highlighting an intriguing similarity between COSMO-type and SAFT-type models. This work was inspired by Prof. Michelsen's papers on SAFT. https://lnkd.in/ddVNwzMa

The last two weeks, the summer school “Thermodynamic Models, Fundamentals, and Computational Aspects” took place at DTU Chemical and Biochemical Engineering. During these two weeks, both students and industry professionals from around the world expanded their knowledge on the fundamentals of thermodynamics, key industrial thermodynamic models, and the development of efficient codes for these models. There was also an emphasis on the practical skills of calculating phase equilibria, particularly relevant for researchers in process simulation and code development.
