Incorporating your startup? There's a bit more to it than business plans. For instance: Network. Sharing of knowledge with peers. Expert insights. And a whole lot of legal! 📖🖋️ That was what we helped entrepreneurial researchers at DTU get one step ahead of the game by focusing on the overall topic of legal essentials when creating a spinout. And we invited some of the best people to cover it! ✅ We had Anders Kjær from PSV for an insightful presentation on legal considerations when making agreements with investors - based on the PSV checklist. ✅ LASSEN RICARD made sure that our attendees got a firm grip on legal considerations when incorporating, including shareholder agreements and much more ✅ And finally, Tomas Wikborg took us through how DTU as a whole works with the transfer of tech, including IP deals and licensing. Inside DTU Skylab: She has managed +300 events in 3 years 🤸♀️ Meet our Event Manager, Nicoline Mohr Lytsen. She has been with us for more than 3 years and has, since her start back in 2021, managed more than 300 internal and external events along with hundreds and hundreds of academic activities in our innovation hub. That activity caught the eye of the Danish trade union Teknisk Landsforbund, who came by recently to do a feature article on Nicoline's work as an Event Manager at our innovation hub. “The word innovation hub might sound buzzword-ish. But it is a way of saying that innovation does not rely on one single person. Skylab is a place that rearranges people. A place where people at different academic levels with different ambitions can meet each other,” Nicoline explained to the trade union's magazine. Prior to Nicoline’s entry into the world of innovation and entrepreneurship at DTU, she created and managed events for Ingeniøren, Distortion Festival, and Dansk Kvindesamfund. The focus was straightforward: the exchange of knowledge on how one can create solid ecosystems to support startups and potential unicorns 🦄 We dug into the ins and outs of a founder's mindset and how larger companies and corporations can collaborate with deep tech startups. On top of that, we touched upon the efforts being made by RISE Europe to establish Europe as one of the front drivers of innovation in the world - making us more resilient in the future tech race. New deep tech fund sees the light of day 🚀 With a hard cap of 80mEUR, PSV Hafnium is born as the first Danish deep tech fund solely focused on early-stage science-based deep tech startups from Denmark and the Nordics. 🌱 The new fund is of high importance to deep tech startups that usually have a longer progression to market, although their impact is equally as high or even higher than the traditional support from other venture funds. “There are plenty of funding opportunities aimed at startups working with software, but there are too few for deep tech companies, especially early-stage startups,” says Marianne Hyltoft, Funding and Managing Partner of PSV Hafnium. 💡 “We really believed in this philosophy of 'make sure you’re building the right it before you build it right',” That’s the words of one of the sixteen Skylab Pilots alumni, Mads Terndrup, co-founder of the medtech startup Exo360. Today, the medtech startup has naturally grown out of our Developer Hall and is continuing their journey towards better care for orthopaedic injuries. 🩺 Mads and his team were active participants during the most recent phase of the deep tech accelerator Skylab Pilots, which bridged the gap between startups, Danish SMEs, and research from DTU. An effort made possible by a joint collaboration between Industriens Fond and DTU Skylab. Since the first three-year phase of Skylab Pilots closed down, we have been working behind the scenes on creating the natural progression of the accelerator programme.
