In solution Characterisation and Quantification of Proteins & Nanoparticles - Native Conditions & Non-immobilisation
Om os
Fida Biosystems (Fidabio) offers a new proprietary technology developed for quantification and characterization of proteins and nanoparticles from 0.5 to 1,000 nm Dh, incl. antibodies, liposomes, exosomes, membrane embedded proteins et al. Based on accurate, in-solution, absolute measurements of hydrodynamic radius, the technology provides precise information about Kd, concentration, size, stoichiometry, conformational changes, oligomeric state, immunogenicity, multiple bindings etc. It is characterised by being fast (minutes), requiring very small sample amounts (ul-nl), and being exceptionally tolerant to the sample matrix, incl. plasma, serum, cell lysate, fermentation media etc. Contrary to most other procedures, the methodology is based on binding in homogenous solution; complications related to non-specific surface adsorption and challenging assay development are therefore avoided. I.e. the unique features of the FIDA technology enable characterisation and quantification in native (biorelevant) environments and in-built assay quality control and automation.

It has been a great pleasure to participate in Leuven Protein Aggregation meeting! For those who could not make it, we recommend reading up about new capacities in amyloid fibril research ↘ https://lnkd.in/dUKbFwdm ✅ Measure the size of amyloid fibrils ✅ Study binding, kinetics and thermodynamic characterisation with a single technology ✅ Work directly on patient-derived fibrils (e.g. celebral spinal fluid)
The second edition of the Leuven Protein Aggregation Meeting has come to a close, and what a fantastic experience it’s been! We had the pleasure of reconnecting with old friends, meeting new faces, and getting the latest insights from the cutting edge of amyloid research—covering everything from fundamental biophysics to clinical breakthroughs. Highlights included discussions on the dynamic states of protein aggregation, a deep dive into fibril structures, and mastering the pronunciation of 🥁 SH-SY5Y. A huge thank you to Hannah Wilkinson and the Switch Lab team for organising such an outstanding event and for having us. And a shout-out to our friendly neighbours and co-sponsors from Ebba Biotech, Fida Biosystems and Protein Stable. We can’t wait to return in two years for the next edition! Nikolay Dobrev reviewed FIDA in his series 30 biophysical techniques in 30 days! Are you curious about his opinion? Read below! Thank you Nikolay!
A Relentless Explorer on the Frontier of Protein Design, Lab Automation and Therapeutics! Let's challenge the status quo together!
Part 7 of my series 30 biophysical techniques in 30 days! 🔬 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀 (𝗙𝗜𝗗𝗔) for Protein Characterization 𝗙𝗜𝗗𝗔 is an innovative biophysical technique designed for precise protein characterization, offering insight into molecular size, binding affinities, and stability. Developed in recent years, FIDA is gaining recognition for its ability to analyze proteins and interactions directly in solution. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗙𝗜𝗗𝗔 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀: FIDA works by injecting a protein sample into a microcapillary flow system where a pressure-driven flow induces dispersion. This dispersion is monitored to determine the protein's diffusion behavior, which provides highly accurate information on the size and binding properties of proteins. 𝗙𝗶𝗱𝗮 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 is the primary provider of FIDA technology, offering cutting-edge instruments like the FIDA 1 and 𝗙𝗜𝗗𝗔 𝗡𝗲𝗼 systems. This device is widely used for antibody screening, protein characterization, and interaction studies, providing high sensitivity and precision for researchers in the life sciences. 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗠𝘆 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲: 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘀 (continue in comments): 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹-𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻-𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱: FIDA allows proteins to be studied in their natural solution state without the need for labels or modifications. 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: The technique uses very low sample volumes, making it ideal for working with precious or limited protein samples. 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: FIDA excels at measuring binding affinities with high precision, even in complex mixtures. 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁-𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: FIDA relies on first-principle physical measurements, which means it directly measures fundamental properties like diffusion coefficients. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀: 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀: In some cases, protein samples may stick to the capillary surface, requiring optimization of conditions such as buffer composition to prevent this and ensure accurate measurements. 𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝗜 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲: ☑️ I have used this technique ⬜ I am using this technique ⬜ I am planning to use it in the future FIDA is a versatile and powerful technique for protein characterization, offering detailed insights into molecular size, stability, and interactions. What do you think about FIDA? #Biophysics #ProteinCharacterization #FIDA #FlowInducedDispersion #LabTech #MolecularBiology #ResearchTools #30biophys30days ————————— 🚀 I’m Nikolay – 𝗔 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻, 𝗟𝗮𝗯 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 🚀 Driven by an unquenchable curiosity, I’m passionately dedicated to pioneering the latest techniques and innovations in protein design.
