Average used car prices fell across all European markets and powertrains during July according to our latest INDICATA Market Watch report as they slowly return back to pre-Covid levels. Hybrids experienced the largest price fall. Used diesel cars still accounted for 30% of European sales in July while petrol remains the dominant powertrain with 46.8% market share. The accolade of the top selling used car in Europe goes to the Volkswagen Golf, followed by the VW T-Roc and Peugeot 208. The VW Golf is also the top selling #ICE car, while the Fiat 500 is the top selling hybrid and the Tesla Model 3 is the top selling #BEV.

On July 3rd, Indicata France awarded the trophy for the best used car performance in the category of more than 7,000 new cars sold at the 2024 Auto Infos Masters. In first place were BPM Group, whose President Patrick Bornhauser honoured us with his presence, followed by DBF AUTOMOBILES, whose Deputy General Manager Cédric Sauvagnat climbed the podium. Groupe Cobredia were in third place - director of used car activities Abd El Kader Ben-Attia joined us at the awards. Remaining competitive in today's used car market is complicated, we know that! Some of the biggest players in the French market understood this and we rewarded them for their efforts. It was all the more gratifying when one of the winners was one of our customers. We look forward to 2025.

Our colleagues at Autorola Belgium Luxembourg have contributed to an article published in De Tijd magazine about the second-hand #EV market using our INDICATA data. Here are some key findings: 1 Significant Price Drop: The prices of used EVs have fallen by almost a quarter since last year, much more than gasoline cars. 2 Supply vs Demand: A growing number of EVs from CV fleets are entering the market, but individuals are still hesitant to go electric. 3 Impact on Leasing Companies: Leasing companies are faced with lower residual values than expected, leading to higher lease rates. 4 Future Expectations: Experts predict the EV price decline will continue until the end of this decade, partly due to the arrival of affordable new models and falling battery prices.
