We are on a journey to redefine play and reimagine learning. Because play is how children learn naturally.
Om os
Children are inherently curious. They explore the world through play and develop the skills to navigate it. They learn to solve problems, come up with ideas, test concepts and interact with others. Play is how children learn best – at home, in the classroom and in communities. We work together with caregivers, educators, policymakers, researchers, NGO's & other organisations to create opportunities for children to learn through play.

Play is natural for children. But in today’s world, many adults have forgotten its importance. Children too often lack time and safe spaces to play due to: • Accelerating urbanisation • Safety concerns • Conflicts • Poverty • Intense academic pressure • Overemphasis on structured activities Together, let’s ensure that every child’s right to play is celebrated and protected.

800,000 children under the age of 12 live in refugee and host communities in Ethiopia, Tanzania and Uganda. How can children cope when they are a long way from home? Learn during conflict and crisis where classes are over 100 students? Or cope with being separated from friends and family? Playful teachers, safe schools and supportive communities make a huge difference. Enid, a teacher in a refugee settlement in Western Uganda, was introduced to the approach of learning through play in 2022. For children who have lived through challenges and uncertainty, play serves as a powerful tool for building resilience. Play is a fundamental component of their learning, wellbeing, and development—building their creativity and problem-solving skills and promoting their social and emotional health. In 2023, PlayMatters introduced the LEGO Six Bricks concept. The approach was created by Care for Education (CFE) and is based on the creative application of six LEGO® bricks to educational activities. With the support of CFE, the Six Bricks approach is currently being adapted and implemented by the PlayMatters Consortium across Ethiopia and Uganda. International Rescue Committee, #WorldRefugeeDay

If 92% of children say that play makes them feel good, imagine what would happen if we never stopped playing. Picture a world where grown-ups embrace fun and playful activities like children, spreading happiness and excitement wherever they go. If you agree, don't just share the post; go play and have a blast while doing it!

“We can only change and improve what we can see.” Creativity is a necessary skill for children today and in the future! Today marks an important milestone in the history of education assessment with OECD - OCDE launching the official PISA 2022 Creative Thinking report, acknowledging the importance of holistic learning and creativity in particular – for ALL children in the world 🌍 With the latest report from PISA showing poor global results in traditional academics, it is time to put holistic skills, learning and assessment on the agenda. It is essential that children are supported to develop a holistic, breadth of skills. Creativity is one of the core skills for holistic development, which we know can be enhanced through playful learning.
