Sustainable progress of society

Om os

From large-scale public infrastructure and technical production facilities to buildings and urban planning, we at NIRAS help to shape the community of tomorrow. This includes solutions that are not in plain sight: the water supply, wastewater treatment facilities, surveying and the IT systems that streamline climate change adaptation and urban planning. Landing at Copenhagen Airport is as good an introduction to what we do at NIRAS as any. Passing the offshore wind farm in the Øresund, the Metro station at the airport or driving into town skirting Amager Beach Park. All projects in which NIRAS has been involved. This sightseeing tour, you might continue through the rest of Denmark, and in Sweden and Norway you would also encounter buildings and technical facilities to which NIRAS employees can proudly say “I contributed”. The story goes on across the globe. As part of our long-standing commitment to global sustainable development, we have worked on projects that have improved health, infrastructure, agribusiness, rural development and water supplies in less fortunate parts of world. With 60 years of experience and 7,000 ongoing projects around the world, our 3,000 experts support our clients' projects and solve their challenges.

Læs hele interviewet her: https://lnkd.in/d3M8rMPS

Have you ever heard about ”magic mud”? ✨ No? So-called “glacial rock flour” may be a silver bullet in the efforts to produce more food for a growing population while at the same time reducing CO2 emissions. Rather magic, right? 🤩 Glacial rock flour, which is found in the fjords of Greenland, has the ability to act as fertiliser for crops and, at the same time, store large amounts of CO2. Work is underway to commercialise the process, and NIRAS is helping to assess the environmental impact of this process. Copilot does not run on autopilot! That’s the key message from our IT Change Director Maria Emanuelsen, who brought NIRAS' Copilot journey to the agenda at this year’s #CloudFestival in Copenhagen. At the festival, Maria shared her experiences with implementing Microsoft Copilot, highlighting the challenges and lessons learned along the way. The implementation has provided valuable insights, with two key findings: 1. Adaptation takes time 2. Training is essential "If you have a personal assistant, who doesn’t understand the task at first, you don’t just give up – the same applies to Copilot. As AI continues to evolve, so does our approach. This journey requires patience with both the technology and ourselves," Maria explains. Maria’s keynote also addressed the potential of implementing AI, highlighting how Copilot can reduce workplace related stress, increase quality and productivity, and encourage a new mindset regarding business models. Maria regularly shares these insights with Microsoft as well. At NIRAS, we have been testing Microsoft Copilot in Edge and Microsoft 365 since November 2023, soft-launched it in September 2024, and are currently preparing for a full rollout in October 2024. At the moment, we have 250 users onboard the advanced AI assistant, which is designed to enhance productivity and creativity by assisting with tasks such as answering questions, creating content, and completing various activities. Psst. In case you’re wondering – AI of course helped us generate this LinkedIn post. 🤖 #Digitaltransformation

A new arrival at the kittiwake hotel! 🐣 Following our post on artificial nesting structures in July, we are really pleased to announce the birth of the first kittiwake chick on the artificial nesting structure, ANS3. This heartwarming story is part of NIRAS’s pivotal role in Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm project, where so far three of the four artificial nesting structures on England’s east coast have been built. These kittiwake hotels are designed to offset the potential impacts of Hornsea 3 and bolster the resilience of vulnerable kittiwake populations against future threats. The photos show ANS3 and a thriving nest with mum and the chick doing well, proving that our innovative kittiwake decoys, crafted from recycled fishing nets, are working beautifully. A huge congratulations and heartfelt thanks to Ørsted for believing in NIRAS's ornithological expertise and investing in our recommendations from concept through to design, monitoring, and implementation. This collaboration exemplifies trust, respect, and teamwork at its finest. Here’s to many more kittiwake chicks and continued success in our conservation efforts!
