We have created a unique method of doing by combining science, artificial intelligence, and real-life to match individuals with a personalised solution customised for their skin’s needs.

    Do we really need more skincare brands in our industry? 🫣 Given the abundant array of skincare products flooding the market, it’s rather tricky to argue that we need even more. Particularly, if they offer no discernible difference in terms of their ingredients and formulations. In 2024, the skincare market is anticipated to yield a staggering revenue of €170.60bn worldwide [1]. While a fraction of this could feasibly sustain a new business venture, the market is already densely saturated, with competition reaching unprecedented levels. It’s fair to say that the ocean is as red as can be 🆘 So how can new contenders possibly carve out a space for themselves in such a crowded landscape? Through branding, we would say. With platforms and services facilitating easy labelling and packaging of mass-produced goods, it has become alarmingly simple to slap a brand name onto an existing product, essentially repackaging old wine in new bottles. From our perspective, this approach lacks both integrity and fairness to consumers - especially the ones with skin concerns. For the ones who chase the indulgence of new brands and seek pleasure in new trends, we absolutely acknowledge that ✌️ But marketing identical products for skin issues under different guises adds unnecessary noise to the skincare realm, rather than addressing genuine consumer needs. What the industry truly requires is not a surplus of indistinguishable products, but rather a commitment to transparency and evidence-based offerings.     Did you know that acne ranks as the 8th most prevalent medical condition globally? Not the 8th most prevalent SKIN condition, but the 8th most prevalent condition overall 😮💨 Influenced by many factors such as genetics, hormones, lifestyle, stress, and treatments, the complexity of acne is, in fact, highly complex. As dermatologist and acne expert, Justine Kluk, recently pointed out in a post on Instagram, ⅓ of women in their 30s still experience breakouts, and 11 million prescriptions are written for acne each year in the US [1]. She writes: “With statistics like these, you’d imagine there would be more effective solutions for treating acne. Unfortunately, many people still struggle to get the help they need meaning there is a lot of unnecessary suffering.” In a recent review of acne vulgaris 🔍, Vasam M, Korutla S, Bohara RA emphasises the enormous interest in research and scientific breakthroughs in this area [2]. They elaborate on the prevalence of acne among female adults: “Acne affects more than 85 % of teenagers, and the disease can persist into adulthood which often occurs in females and accounts for two-thirds of dermatologist consultations for acne.” Anyone who says they have a cure for acne is not speaking the truth - there will probably never be one.     Should 10-year olds use skincare with acids? 🧒🧴 The topic of “Sephora Kids” has been widely discussed in international media recently, sparking the conversation of children’s early adoption of skincare. In yesterday’s episode of Genstart at DR - Danmarks Radio, Danish doctor and Ph.D. in Dermatology, Dr. Caecilie Bachdal Johansen, delved into the concerns surrounding Sephora Kids. As highlighted in the episode, the world of skincare has exploded in the latest years, with social media platforms like Tiktok becoming hubs for skincare enthusiasts. These platforms are saturated with tutorials on ingredients, viral products, and recommendations for extensive skincare routines, some with up to 7, 10, and 12 steps. When asked by journalist Anna Ingrisch whether it’s advisable for a 10-year old, experiencing a bit of uneven skin, to start using skincare with glycolic acid, Dr. Johansen’s response was unequivocal: “No, it’s completely insane.” 🤯 And we agree. Skincare is not a toy - it can be powerful and should not be treated lightly. Unless a child has an actual skin problem, there is little justification for introducing active ingredients at such a young age.     How do individuals and physicians assess skin diseases differently? 🧑⚕️ 🔍 A study investigating this question for psoriasis specifically was recently published in Krager Dermatology, utilising our real-world image data 📷 When working with real-life data like ours, many learnings and insights become available. We consider it both an obligation and a privilege to contribute to the science of skincare and disease management in general.     The 1st time was so nice, we had to do it twice 😄 Lægedage 2023 certainly didn’t disappoint.  After an action-packed week filled with lots of snacks, samples, and positive conversations with a host of healthcare professionals, we packed down our stand with a feeling of great accomplishment. Here’s why: 1️⃣ People were really open-minded and saw the need/benefits of our approach to skincare, compared to last year, where we were challenged on the need for such a complex solution to replace something that “works” already. 2️⃣ Even though our recognition is still relatively low among healthcare practitioners and many hadn’t heard of us before, we were pleasantly surprised to learn that many are already recommending NØIE in their clinics based on patient feedback and word of mouth. 3️⃣ Doctors were eager to learn more about supporting their patients in the best way possible with our solution. 61 clinics signed up to receive more in-depth information about our approach alongside samples for them to test. We had 23 sign-ups last year. 📈 4️⃣ We handed out samples to doctors and received positive reactions from those who had tried them throughout the week. Overall, it was such a great experience for us as a team. Building on the back of last year and getting the chance to engage with healthcare professionals again in an intimate setting left us with lots of new insights and motivation 🙌 Personalised skincare has now definitely gained more attention and recognition among healthcare professionals. Something has changed since last year, and the mindset has shifted. It’s difficult to say why, but potentially, it’s just time. Personalisation's potential is beginning to be realised, and this experience only reaffirms our commitment to it.     Introducing, Well-ageing. We’ve just launched our new offering of personalised formulations developed to target signs of ageing whilst nourishing and rejuvenating the skin throughout life. But why is a company that focuses on skin conditions now moving into ageing? 🤔 The mentally inflicted burden caused by your skin is the sum of many factors, not just a skin condition but also premature signs of ageing. Our overall mission is to improve the quality of life for people with skin concerns - regardless of the origin of these concerns. The user gets to decide, and we are here to help them. Our team of experts have been working on this for some time now. We wanted to curate formulations that allow us to give each user what their skin needs to maintain healthy skin whilst benefiting their underlying skin condition, e.g. acne or combination skin. Now we're able to support them with personalised skincare that focuses on their skin conditions first whilst also targeting signs of ageing.     Lægedage, we’re coming back. And this time with plenty of snacks and samples 🧴🍿 One year ago, we participated in our first Lægedage (Medical Days) to create awareness and engage in dialogues around NØIE as a solution that could be recommended to patients with mild to moderate skin conditions. We were met with much curiosity and eagerness to learn more about our concept. We received much positive feedback on our belief in personalisation and learning from each user's experience. Since then, we’ve stayed in contact with many of the medical professionals we met and have visited a host of clinics to continue educating them on how we can support them and their patients. 12 months on, with the positive experience of last year, we’re going into this Lægedage with even more enthusiasm and a clear purpose of what we hope to achieve. Our focus this year is to: 1️⃣ Create more awareness around NØIE as a solution for mild to moderate skin conditions. 2️⃣ Send a clear message about the part of the patient journey we can support doctors in their daily work. 3️⃣ Engage in new dialogues with doctors and explore possibilities for collaboration. 4️⃣ Gain learnings from doctors on their experiences with patients with skin conditions. We learned last year that doctors love snacks, but they also had a keen interest in test samples. Being a personalised skincare company, this isn’t easy, and they understood that. However, this year, we have chosen to bring some selected formulations for people to feel the texture and get a sense of using our physical product. We’re looking forward to it and hope to see many of you there. #lægedage #healthtech #skincare
