Say hi to our student helper! 👋 A lot is currently happening to our startup when it comes to the development of our container hatchery and we are proud to introduce our student helper, Sigurd. 👏 He is helping out with the hatchery development and seeding process in Nykøbing Mors. 🌊🌱 He is a fisheries technician/Lab assistant at DTU Aqua, Danish shellfish centre, in his third year. We are excited about our new collaboration with the eco-friendly aquaculture startup OceanWide Seaweed ApS! 🌿🌊 OceanWide Seaweed is making strides with their Growth Module Technology and hatchery development. This innovative method enhances the cultivation of the red alga Palmaria palmata, optimizing yield and reducing the need for extensive farming space. Their approach, which avoids the use of land, pesticides, or freshwater, showcases a commitment to sustainable practices. We've provided a Star Cool Integrated refrigerated container to support their innovative seaweed farming, aligning with our commitment to sustainability and innovation. The new reefer serves as a hatchery for the seaweed. A few weeks ago we had a visit by Morsø Erhvervsråd! They have helped us ensure a good framework for our innovative research and production of #dulse locally at Nykøbing Mors Harbour. 🌊 Therefore they had a look at our new Container Hatchery and saw how far we have come. 💪 Want to read more about their visit at our Container Hatchery? I sidste uge var Susanne Toftegaard Hansen på virksomhedsbesøg hos virksomheden OceanWide Seaweed ApS, som netop har etableret en produktionscontainer på Mors med bæredygtigt tangopdræt. Den nye container er et klækkeri for tangarten søl (rødalge). Som et helt nyt fyrtårn på Mors, vil der nu blive produceret tanglinier af høj kvalitet på havnen i Nykøbing Mors, som efterfølgende afsættes til tang-farmere for produktion og afsætning 👏🏻 Det er Vilsund Blue A/S, der lægger areal til kølecontaineren på billedet, som ankom til Mors for en uge siden. Produktionscontaineren og dyrknings setup’et efterspørges internationalt fx i Irland, Norge, Sverige, Frankrig og Tyskland, hvor der er tale om et stort markedspotentiale. Virksomheden OceanWide Seaweed ApS startede op i regi af DTU Aqua i Nykøbing Mors, men er nu kommet skridtet videre og er klar til produktion. Der er tale om en innovativ videns- og forskningstung virksomhed her på Mors, som vi hos Morsø Erhvervsråd er ekstremt stolte af at have været med til at sikre gode opstartsrammer for lokalt.
