Lavet i samarbejde med Real-Time LCA
🌍 Happy Friday from our open office! We’re always pleased to welcome our partners, customers, friends and others that care and want to connect, collaborate, and work side-by-side to make Real-Time LCA work better for them and all of our users.
Today, we hosted Kjell Vidar Andersen Ingwardo from NSW Arkitektur, who visited us from Norway to engage with our team, ahead of our formal launch in Norway! NSW Arkitektur is committed to creating sustainable, human-centered architecture that both enhances communities and respects environmental contexts, and have been doing so for almost 50 years! Kjell is passionate about the green transition, and driving the sustainability agenda in their projects and with customers across Norway.
A big thank you to NTI Norway for making this connection possible and supporting this cross-border partnership! 🤝
Ps. You are also welcome ;)

🇮🇸ISLAND🇮🇸
I have spent almost three days in beautiful Island and I love it. Kasper Brünings and Arni Gudmundur Gudmundsson has been very welcoming and great hosts.
The trip has given great insights from the BIM Island conference, meeting with customers (and hopefully new ones😉), workshop with ARKÍS arkitektar and meeting with Húsnæðis- og mannvirkjastofnun to ensure fully compliance in Real-Time LCA with the new Icelandic regulations. These new regulations will be a very interesting journey for the building sector in Island.
Of course there was also a bit of time to see the spectacular sights🇮🇸😊
What’s an EPD and Why Does it Matter? 🌍🏗️
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is like a "nutrition label" for the environment. It provides transparent, verified data on a product’s environmental impact, covering its full lifecycle—from raw material extraction to disposal. EPDs are based on Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and measure aspects like carbon footprint, water use, and resource consumption. 🌱
Why Are EPDs Important for the AEC Industry?
📜 Regulatory Compliance: As sustainability regulations tighten globally, more projects require documentation of environmental impacts. EPDs are often essential for meeting green building standards (like LEED or BREEAM) and obtaining environmental certifications.
🌿 Customer Demand: Companies and consumers alike are demanding greater transparency and accuracy in calculations. EPDs help demonstrate your company’s commitment to sustainability, aligning your business with green priorities.
👥 Regulatory thresholds: With increasing thresholds for carbon emissions it will become increasingly difficult to have your project meet the emission boundaries, if you are using to many generic datasets, as they are typically more conservative than EPDs.
At Real-Time LCA, we have a comprehensive library of EPDs and general environmental data, in context, so you can provide the most accurate insights, applied in accordance with the picture, I.e. generic in the early phases, and as much product specific as possible in the later phases. This empowers our users to continuously improve the environmental performance of their projects and meet sustainability targets efficiently. 🚀♻️

Meet our New Communications Lead, Madalena! 🎉
We are super happy to welcome Madalena Caiano to our team! Our values match perfectly and we share the highest ambitions for making a positive impact on the world. With several years of digital marketing experience, from among others, Disney 🪄 in Lisbon, she brings new perspectives, new talents, and great energy to our team and the industry as a whole. Maybe even adding a little magic to our mission? ✨
Expect us to contribute more to learning, to the eco-system of data and academia, while also sharing how we help organizations understand, reduce, and document their climate impact from construction, using an accurate, efficient, and collaborative platform.
Madalena shares “I am glad to dedicate myself to the mission of sustainable constructions and growing in the process, with a team that truly cares and that I believe can have a real impact”.
Let’s show Madalena some love to help us, help you, help all! 🙌🪄🌏
AI Arkitekter & Ingeniører is a leading firm in architecture and engineering services based in Denmark, known for its commitment to sustainability and integrated design processes. AI Arkitekter & Ingeniører are continuously looking to enhance workflows and leverage building data more efficiently in LCA processes while ensuring compliance with regulations and certifications.
Real-Time LCA is now an addition to their sustainability toolset to accurately and efficiently reduce and document the climate impact from building projects, collaboratively with their stakeholders 💚 Here, we are also benefiting from AI Arkitekter & Ingeniører's feedback and improvement suggestions directly and in our community (Mark Labrosse 💖), in a process where we have experienced their depth and passion for sustainable construction. 💼♻️
Thank you to Mark Labrosse, Katja Lindschouw Frankvard, Shaun Viktor Persson, Abderrahim Kazhaze, Izel Bozkurt, and the rest of the great team at AI – looking forward to growing together. 🤝 Most of all, grateful for the trust in our team and vision 🙌.
Appreciation also to our shared partner NTI Denmark, NTI Group - Inspiring Tomorrow, and David Start specifically for supporting the collaboration here.
BTW – We would be glad if you followed us, or reached out, we are here to help.
Thank you, Thomas Graabæk for highlighting the importance of integrating LCA calculations with BIM. The collaboration among technology, design tools, and professionals is essential for improving productivity and sustainability in construction.
Thank you also to GRAPHISOFT, for your contributions to this ecosystem. We look forward to continuing this cooperation! 🙌🏽
Check out the video below to see how to synchronize Real-Time LCA with Archicad.

⚙️ The Importance of Integrated LCA Solutions in Carbon Reduction Efforts ⚙️
At Real-Time LCA, we see the value that automated and integrated Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tools have for minimising embodied carbon in buildings and managing the growing complexity of regulation and certification requirements. Here are some examples:
⏱️ Real-Time Assessments (no pun intended 😉): Immediate analysis of design scenarios, allowing for rapid comparisons of materials and design options. This quick feedback is crucial for sustainable decision-making in the design phase. The earlier in the process the software can be applied, the more sustainable impact can be achieved.
📊 Data Integration: By gathering extensive databases on material properties and carbon footprints, Real-Time LCA ensures comprehensive assessments that consider all lifecycle stages, improving accuracy.
🔍 Scenario Analysis: Real-Time LCA also allows the modeling of various construction approaches, giving stakeholders the possibility to identify the most effective strategies for carbon reduction.
✅ Regulatory Compliance: As sustainability regulations evolve, Real-Time LCA helps generate detailed reports on embodied carbon, following local regulations and verifying for standards set by certification bodies such as DGNB, BREEAM, and soon LEED.
🌍 Collaboration: Maybe one of the most important points, as it does require a village to recreate the planetary balance. Everyone needs to understand the climate impact of decisions, in order to reduce it. One source of truth among architects, engineers, and contractors, promoting a unified approach to sustainability.
Real-Time LCA makes all of the above already possible, with an accurate, efficient, and collaborative platform to help you understand, reduce, and document your climate impact from construction. Don't take our word for it - feel free to try it out, for free – see link in comments.
