Yesterday, we were fortunate enough to experience prof. Hartmut Rosa discuss resonance and the importance of relations. By #resonance, prof. Rosa refers to the experience of being in flow, of being affected by the world and being able to respond. 💭 We thought about what resonance means for #science #communication and #sustainability. Here are three questions that came out of our thoughts and discussions: • Resonance is about relationships and connection. But how do we resonate with a collapsing world? • Self-efficacy is the capability to respond, when the world calls to us. How do we go from discussing responsibility, to empowering people to be response-able in questions of sustainability? • There is no seven-step recipe to creating resonance. A better question is: how can we use spaces and innovative formats to foster a sense of belonging and connection? 📫 We will continue to work on these questions in the research programme Sustain-Art-Sci. You can sign up to be part of our network here: https://lnkd.in/evWc_SMQ 📌 In the comments, we link to two podcasts that feature prof. Hartmut Rosa and his work on resonance, and to an article where we use the concept in an art-science project. #Resonance #SciComm #SciCom #ScienceCommunication #OpenAccess #Sustainability #ArtsBasedMethods Marianne Achiam Sabrina Vitting-Seerup Jacob Thorek Jensen Marine D.

📅 Upcoming Online Event: Network Meeting - Green Work and Environmental Knowledge Over the last 30 years, environmental regulations have come to govern nearly every facet of life so that by the 2020s, nearly everyone could be considered an environmentalist in one form or other (Benson 2020). This intriguing proposition implies major social change, yet relatively little is known of how enviro-regulations co-produce labor, business, and consumer practices and the infrastructural substrata of a society of environmentalists. We could refer to these practices collectively as green work and the ways of knowing around them as environmental knowledge. Please join us for this online meeting led by Dr Matthew Eisler, where our guest lecturer will review how work and labor have been treated in environmental studies to date and outline some provisional thoughts and provocations in opening a conversation on the epistemology of green work. The network meeting will engage you, the participants, in discussing from your point of view and expertise. We are happy to invite you to our fourth network meeting for the research programme Addressing Sustainability with Arts-based Science Communication (SUSTAIN-ART-SCI). ⏱Tue 12th Nov 2024 - 12:00 to 13:00. ✏ To register and receive a calendar invite, please visit https://lnkd.in/e8JgpZPi 📫 Do you want to receive more news, upcoming events etc. surrounding the research project Sustain-Art-Sci? 👏 Thank you to everyone that attended the 3rd network meeting for Sustain-Art-Sci last week! The conversation surrounding our model of ‘terroir’ has opened our eyes and minds to how our multinational, multidisciplinary network may interpret and understand science communication going forward. We greatly appreciate everyone’s input and look forward to discussing some key points that were brought up during the meeting. ✏️ Do you have any further questions or comments on Marianne Achiam‘s talk about terroir? 🗓️ UPCOMING: Please keep the 12th November 12:00-13:00 (CET) free for our upcoming 4th network meeting with guest speaker Dr. Matthew N. Eisler. 📫 Do you want to receive more news, upcoming events etc. surrounding the research project Sustain-Art-Sci? ⏰ 24 Hours until our first online network meeting! ⏰ We are happy to invite you all to our first networking meeting of the new academic year for the research programme Addressing Sustainability with Arts-based Science Communication (SUSTAIN-ART-SCI). Science communication has – so far – not been effective in promoting sustainability. In the research programme Sustain-Art-Sci, we are experimenting with new ideas, metaphors and formats for science communication that not only put sustainability on the public agenda but are themselves sustainable. Whether you are a science communication practitioner, researcher, or just interested in our ideas, we welcome your insights and feedback. Please join us for this online meeting led by Marianne Achiam, where we will present the concept of terroir as a way to think about the societal, institutional, scientific, pedagogical (etc.) conditions and constraints that shape science communication. Terroir offers us an ecological perspective for imagining science communication as sustainability within coupled living systems. The network meeting will engage you, the participants, in discussing and critiquing our proposal from your point of view and expertise. ⏱Tue 8th Oct 2024 - 12:00 to 13:00. ✏ To register and receive a calendar invite, please visit https://lnkd.in/eCteRCaT 📫 Do you want to receive more news, upcoming events etc. surrounding the research project Sustain-Art-Sci?

📢We are published in the Journal of Science Communication! Last year, we invited some of our interdisciplinary network to partake in three workshops as part of our project ‘Co-creating Sustainability Communication’, generously funded by Novo Nordisk Foundation and the Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen. During these we experimented with arts-based methods to co-create new methods and formats for sustainability science communication. The theory of resonance by Hartmut Rosa was at the forefront of our evaluation with the elements of affection, emotion, transformation and uncontrollability being key in the foundations of the workshops. 📕 You can read more about it at https://bit.ly/3Xu6Kc3 👏 A special thanks goes to all the participants 🖌️ Did you participate? Please share your thoughts about the workshops below- we’d love to hear how your experience fits into the notion of resonance.
