When we talk about Nanoimprint Lithography (NIL), we often use the term “Master” to describe the beginning of the imprinting process. But what exactly does it mean? In simple terms, a #Master —also called a template or stamp— is the original blueprint of all nanoimprinted designs. Typically made from silicon, glass, or even metal, the master holds the fine structures that will be replicated into a substrate or wafer. Think of it like a rubber stamp. Just as the stamp transfers its design onto paper, the master transfers intricate patterns onto a substrate through a nanoimprinting process. In @Stensborg rolling NIL, the master is mounted on a roller for continuous, high-speed replication. This is ideal for mass production in industries where precision is paramount, such as photonics, biomedical devices, and semiconductors. Without the master, NIL simply wouldn’t be possible—it’s the foundation to ensure high-quality optimal success. 💡How would you explain it?
