For years, Tantec and Venture Automation have worked together to help an automotive client eliminate primer from their process using Corona treatment. But when the client switched to a conductive material, a new challenge arose: traditional Corona treatment was no longer effective. Why? Corona treatment relies on high-voltage electrical discharge to activate surfaces, but conductive materials disperse the charge, preventing proper surface modification. ✅ The Challenge: Conductive materials made Corona treatment ineffective. ✅ The Solution: We explored alternative methods and identified vacuum plasma as the optimal solution. ✅ The Results: After extensive testing and validation, the system is now in full production—delivering reliable and efficient surface treatment. Hi, my name is Valdemar and I've been doing an internship at Tantec this week. One of my tasks was to do an interview - and I had an interesting chat with Jens Withen, who has worked at Tantec for 11 years! Jens actually started as a cabinetmaker, but when the financial crisis hit, he changed direction and became a production technician. For the first 9 years he worked in the construction department, but now he is a sales engineer. I asked him what makes the job great and he said: ✔️ Meeting with customers ✔️ 3D designing ✔️ Development tasks He also said that the work environment at Tantec is open and professional and that everyone can talk to everyone. One of the things he is most proud of is the great feedback from customers. In our lab at Tantec, we often receive customer samples made of porous materials. These can be tricky to test with traditional contact angle and dyne measurements due to liquid absorption. So, what do we do? We use a tape test! 👇 By comparing untreated and plasma/corona-treated foam boards, we can easily see the difference in adhesion. The treated surface shows a significant improvement in adhesion properties, proving the impact of our surface treatment technology.
