Artist/design duo exploring the relationship of digital technologies, senses and ecology.

Om os

Wang & Söderström are a Swedish born, Copenhagen-based artist duo. In a hybrid practice that spans the physical and the digital, Anny Wang and Tim Söderström investigates the relationship of digital technologies, materials and living things in the current and future digital and ecological shift. The ideas that emerge are a synthesis of technology and material craft, taking form in sculpture, installation, and visual imagery. In this tangled space between the tangible and the transient, Wang & Söderström emphasise the emotional and haptic qualities of materials and textures, reframing their value and recasting their meaning. By working aesthetically exploratively and across mediums, the duo wants to stretch what the digital can be and look like in order to bring the digital closer to the human and the nature we are part of. Probing conventions, their ingenuity is germinating a new sensuality in the digital age. Their works have been shown around the globe in museums such as La Galleria Nazionale in Rome, The Design Museum in London, Museum Kranenburgh in Bergen NL, MMCA in Seoul, ArkDes in Stockholm and Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum in New York. Along with their artistic practice their work has been realised at an international range with collaborations for renowned cultural institutions like the Nobel Prize Organisation and Alte Oper, leading fashion brands like Nike, Burberry, Rimowa, and some of the largest media and communication platforms like The New York Times and Apartamento Magazine. Tim Söderström (b.1988) graduated in 2015 from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture (MAA), Copenhagen. Anny Wang (b.1990) graduated in 2014 from HDK, Academy of Art and Design, University of Gothenburg (BFA), Gothenburg. They received the prestigious three-year work grant from the Danish Arts Foundation and won The Biennale Award 2023, which is considered the biggest recognition of current Danish craft & design.

Our biggest solo exhibition yet ‘𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤 𝙈𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙞𝙚𝙨’ - Wang & Söderström opens next week. It has been some intense couple of months and we can’t wait to show you all what we have been working on. We would be so happy to see you at the 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝟮𝟳 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲, 𝟭𝟳.𝟬𝟬-𝟮𝟭.𝟬𝟬! 🧡💚💙 Christian IV’s Bryghus Frederiksholms Kanal 29 Copenhagen Christiansborg Slot will for the first time host a contemporary art exhibition with a digital perspective in the historic building Christian IV’s brewery in Copenhagen and we are excited to be the first artists to exhibit in this context. Under the large vaults and among the existing royal sculpture collection, the exhibition put focus on narratives and power structures in the technological ecosystem. ‘𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤 𝙈𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙞𝙚𝙨’ presents speculative worlds and explores the potential of new mythologies to bring technology closer to something sensual and corporeal. To imagine alternative realities where the world's complex network feels more connected and empowering. Huge thanks to curator Majken Overgaard for the amazing collaboration 💖 Thank you Mads Damsbo, Frederik Taulborg at the team at Christiansborgs Slot / Nationalmuseet for the trust and hard work. 💜 Special thanks to Danish Technological Institute and Reflow for the support.💛 There will be food, drinks and tunes by Atusa Zamani ❤️🔥 Come and participate, speculate and celebrate with us this summer evening! 🐦🔥🪲🐍 Portrait photo by Therese Lærke.
