Job Overview

As Head of Cancer Pharmacology, you will be the main responsible for our in vitro and in vivo pharmacology activities and as such you will drive and oversee all pharmacological research in collaboration with your dedicated team. Specifically, you will be responsible for taking our first-in-class compounds through in vitro and in vivo mode-of-action and proof-of-concept studies. Your expertise will guide the strategic direction, planning, and execution of preclinical pharmacology studies, ensuring they align with our overall scientific goals and timelines. You will play a crucial role in our efforts in drug discovery, and thereby making impactful contributions to the advancement of our promising oncology treatment paradigms.


 

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Management

o  Lead and mentor a team consisting of a Postdoc, a PhD student, and a lab technician, providing guidance and support in their research as well as their personal and professional development.

o  Oversee the design, implementation and analysis of pharmacological studies.

o  Manage and collaborate with key CROs and scientific partners.

 

Strategic Planning

o  Develop and implement strategic plans for the in vitro and in vivo pharmacology program, aligned with the company's overall objectives.

o  Stay updated with relevant literature within the scientific field and implement novel strategies and methods.

o  Strong impact on the identification and prioritization of research areas based on scientific merit and commercial potential.

 

Research and Development

o  Direct the conduct of in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo pharmacological studies, ensuring scientific rigor and compliance with ethical standards.

o  Oversee data analysis, interpretation, and presentation, ensuring high-quality, reproducible results.

o  While the primary tasks will involve desk work, the ideal candidate should be willing to offer hands-on assistance for murine in vivo experiments (i.e. xenograft and syngeneic cancer models) during busy periods.


The ideal candidate has the following Qualifications

·      PhD in cancer biology/pharmacology or related field preferably with experience with GPCRs and small molecules and with extensive post-doctoral or similar experience from (biotech)industry.

·      Experience in a leadership/project management role within a preclinical research setting.

·      Extensive hands-on experience with solid tumor in vivo cancer models (mainly subcutaneous syngeneic and xenograft models), including pharmacological testing.

·      Excellent knowledge of tumor microenvironment preferably also with experience within immuno-oncology assays and models.

·      Previous experience with early toxicology testing is considered a plus but not required.

·      Strong communication and collaboration skills. Working language is English and fluency is a requirement.

·      EU Function ABD accreditation by FELASA (Federation of Laboratory Animal Science Associations) or corresponding certificate is required.
