  • The Northern Pathfinder, a sea vessel transporting CO2 for storage in Norway, docked at Yara's Sluiskil plant in the Netherlands! 🎉   🤝 In 2023, Yara and Northern Lights JV signed the first-ever cross-border commercial agreement for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) in operation.    🚢 Through CCS, Yara aims to reduce its annual CO2 emissions by 800,000 tons from the ammonia production at Yara Sluiskil. The CO2 will be liquefied and shipped by Northern Lights from the Netherlands to permanent storage on the Norwegian continental shelf, 2.6 kilometers under the seabed.     🏭 Although operations are planned to start in 2026, the Northern Pathfinder vessel made a stop at Yara's Sluiskil plant on its voyage from Asia to Norway! The vessel is one of four ships to safely transport CO2 from industrial installations to the Northern Lights terminal in Øygarden, Norway.   Join us in celebrating the power of partnership in driving profitable decarbonization and strengthened competitiveness! This milestone proves that CCS is part of the solution in reaching climate targets while kickstarting the market for low-carbon products in Europe. 👏

Geopolitical uncertainty is reshaping global markets, making Europe's industrial competitiveness more critical than ever. Securing affordable energy, enabling businesses to thrive, and strengthening our food system is key to long-term resilience.   In Antwerp, Yara’s CEO Svein Tore Holsether joined 400 business leaders and industry representatives - alongside European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen - to discuss the recently published Clean Industrial Deal.   The message is clear: ambition alone is not enough. Turning commitments into action requires industry and policymakers to work together, to drive real change for a stronger, more competitive, and sustainable Europe.

  • This International Women's Day, we're proud to spotlight Yara's Women in Agronomy program, which stands as a testament to our belief that DEI is a business imperative and a responsibility we all share. 👩🌾 ♀️ Launched in 2020, Women in Agronomy embodies our dedication to promoting gender equity in our workplace and the wider agricultural sector. 🤝 Through mentorship, networking, and increased visibility, the program offers a valuable platform for women in Yara to develop their skills, connect with colleagues, and advance their careers in agriculture. 🎉 After four years, we're thrilled to share that the program has empowered over 600 female participants from 40 different countries and has enabled male colleagues and mentors to join the change! Women in Agronomy is a concrete example of how we can #AccelerateAction and forge gender equality. Revolutionizing farming with just a few clicks? Let us explain. We've teamed up with Yara International to bring new tech to farming, especially for fertilizing. Take Georg Stiegler's 1,100ha farm in Saxony, Germany, for example. Georg uses Yara's Atfarm software, which is connected to the John Deere Operations Center™. This setup provides him with valuable information: - How much fertilizer is needed - How much fertilizer has been applied - The growth of his crops And the results are incredible! In 5 out of 6 fields where the software was used, he saw a boost in crop yields, with only one field showing a slight decrease. #JohnDeereEurope

  • Yara's Almond Incubator Farm in Modesto is a key part of our global Incubator Farms Network, driving innovation in crop nutrition and sustainable agriculture. 💡 🌱 Spanning 600 acres, this network is dedicated to improving nutrient and water use efficiency, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and helping farmers boost both yields and profitability. 🤝 At the Modesto site in California, Yara North America is working with partners and technology providers to develop practical, scalable solutions for the almond industry - studying 40 acres of fertigated almonds and 40 acres of irrigated walnuts. 👨🌾 By combining continuous fertigation management with nitrate-based inputs, the farm’s product + practice approach has already led to successful trials and rapid adoption. While almonds mainly grow in California, Australia, and the Iberian Peninsula, this approach is also showing great potential for pistachios, walnuts, and avocados - expanding its impact across different cropping systems. 👏 Learn more about our Incubator Farms in North America: https://lnkd.in/eVGGJDNe #KnowledgeGrows

President & CEO at Yara International

A year ago, the Antwerp Declaration set a bold vision for Europe’s industrial strength. Today, the Clean Industrial Deal lays out the path to turn that vision into reality by accelerating decarbonization while securing the future of European manufacturing. The message is clear: Europe must turn ambition into action. Decarbonization and competitiveness must go hand-in-hand under one unified growth strategy. To make this happen we need to drive demand for low-carbon solutions and ensure Europe’s fertilizer sector remains strong and future-proof. A robust Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is also essential to keep European industries globally competitive. At the same time, decarbonization must continue, and we must reduce the carbon footprint of food - but this won’t happen without shared responsibility and bold market-pull measures. It’s time for the European Commission to deliver the deal. A competitive European industry, a thriving farming sector, and a sustainable food system depend on it.

One year after the launch of the #AntwerpDeclaration, 400 business leaders, industry and worker representatives from across Europe – including Yara's CEO Svein Tore Holsether – met in Antwerp to discuss the just-published #CleanIndustrialDeal with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. 🤝   At Yara, we endorse the Clean Industrial Deal, which focuses on energy-intensive industries and emphasizes the strategic importance of #fertilizer production, and the Commission’s efforts to strengthen European industry.   However, with Europe's competitiveness and strategic autonomy under pressure, EU policymakers need to take urgent action to improve the business case for investing in Europe.   Climate action and #competitiveness must be unified to achieve sustainable growth. As Yara's CEO highlighted, "#decarbonization of industry must continue and the carbon footprint of food must be reduced." Driving demand for low-carbon solutions and establishing an export mechanism for the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (#CBAM) are essential both to prevent carbon leakage and to enable European companies to compete globally. 🌐   Europe’s industries are ready to do their part. Now it’s time for EU leaders to #DeliverTheDeal.

  • Three years have passed since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, inflicting devastating suffering on the Ukrainian people. With Russia and Ukraine being world superpowers in fertilizer and food, the war has had far-reaching implications for the entire world. It has also exposed how fragile our global food systems are and the crucial role fertilizers play. Known as the breadbasket of Europe, Ukraine is one of the world's largest wheat and barley exporters - accounting for nine percent of global wheat exports in 2020 alone. Yara has stood proudly alongside Ukraine's farmers before the war and throughout, in their efforts to keep growing the food the world depends on. Since day one, Yara’s Security and Emergency Preparedness Director in Europe, Aleksander Jankov, has been in daily contact with our Ukrainian colleagues, supporting them with practical preparedness advice, and by sharing timely, reliable, and relevant information about the state of security on the ground. "The Ukrainian people continue to make monumental efforts to defend their country and maintain food production. We have 11 dedicated colleagues in Ukraine who are an integral part of Ukrainian defense. Farmers risk their lives in the fields and our colleagues in Ukraine are doing everything they can to support them. Their work is crucial in safeguarding their country and ensuring food security in the world," shares Aleksander. As the conflict continues to disrupt global food security, our commitment to supporting Ukrainian farmers remains unwavering. We stand with our colleagues and farmers in Ukraine who are showing remarkable strength and perseverance.
