In our latest podcast episode, we are thrilled to have Doug Rutzen, the esteemed President and CEO of the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL) and a professor at Georgetown University as a guest. Over three decades, Doug has observed firsthand the dual nature of technology in society. While digital advancements have empowered tech-enabled social movements and civil society organizations, fostering more inclusive and democratic societies, they also pose a threat when wielded with malicious intents. This conversation is a must-listen for anyone interested in the intersection of technology, society, and law. 👇 Link in comments.

About us
The e-Governance Academy (eGA) is a non-profit foundation that assists public sector and civil society organisations in making digital transformation happen. We make it happen through consultancy, training, networking, research and assisting government organisations in the implementation of technical solutions. Most notably, eGA has delivered digital transformation solutions in 141 countries and regions, especially in Eastern and Central Europe, Asia and Africa. Additional cooperation projects have taken place with EU countries including Austria, Belgium, Faroe Islands (Denmark), Finland, Greece, Hungary, Portugal, and Serbia. To help increase the cybersecurity of states eGA developed National Cyber Security Index (NCSI.ega.ee) to measure countries level of cyber security and preparedness to prevent cyber threats and manage cyber incidents and crises. To share e-governance best practice around the world eGA organises annually e-Governance Conference (egovconference.ee) in Tallinn where leading e-governance experts, decision-makers, donors and civil society groups meet to discuss e-governance in the EU, in Eastern Partnership countries and worldwide. eGA’s management system for its project management, study visits and consulting services have been independently certified to ISO 9001:2015 standard. eGA has got two subsidiaries: eGA for the Caribbean Ltd (EGA4C) and Digital Governance Academy Asia-Pacific (D-GAP).

🇦🇱🇦🇱 Really honoured that today President of Albania Bajram Begaj visited eGA's Tallinn office during his state visit to Estonia. Since 2022, eGA and Estonian cyber experts have been working closely with Albanian officials to improve #cybersecurity capabilities. President Bajram Begaj acknowledged the work of eGA experts and noted that the cyberattacks of 2022 created the need to think differently and learn from failures. "Recovering from cyber crises requires not only technical know-how and expertise but also an international collaboration, a correct risk management and an adequate impact assessment," Hannes Astok noted at the meeting. Furthermore, Mr. Astok shed light on forthcoming events such as the Tallinn Summer School of Cyber Diplomacy, extending a warm welcome to Albanian cybersecurity officials. 👋 🇪🇺 In 2024, eGA is implementing two EU-funded cybersecurity projects in total amount of 7,6 million euros in the country and wider region to enhance the cyber resilience of the Western Balkans in compliance with EU acquis and best practices by improving cybersecurity prevention, preparedness, and response.

e-Governance Academy (eGA) team had the privilege of gathering nearly 100 of us from across the globe for a summer retreat in the stunning island of Saaremaa, Estonia. The yearly retreat was a unique opportunity to reconnect, reflect, and discuss the core values that drive our work: Impact, Expertise, Independence, Client Focus, Sustainability, and Respect. In between work-sessions, we also had time to enjoy the unique beauty and culture of the island. We sailed on the open sea, hiked through serene bogs, explored the historical charm of Kuressaare, and even tried our hand at golfing and frying fish. And, of course, we celebrated our time together with endless conversations and by dancing our shoes off! This retreat really deepened our understanding of eGA's values and reinforced our commitment to them. It was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do and the impact we can have when we work together!
