Advancing Education and Community Development: A Commitment Beyond Construction Orascom Construction is set to fully renovate and upgrade the infrastructure of Al-Shaheed Ahmed Mohamed Hamdi Shiboub Primary School, located near the Abu Qir Regional Metro project site, as part of our commitment to supporting local communities. As we build the 21.7-kilometer metro line connecting downtown Alexandria to Abu Qir, the renovation of the nearby school exemplifies our dedication to making a lasting impact beyond infrastructure development. We are excited to once again partner with Educate Me Foundation to implement its UNESCO-Hamdan award-winning program "School Transformation Journey" which aims to enhance the quality of teaching in public schools through a school-based reform. The program aims to raise the capacity of teachers, principals, and counselors over 3 years, leading to enhanced learning outcomes for students. Our close collaboration with the Ministry of Education has been essential in aligning this project with broader educational goals. Additionally, our comprehensive school development program has achieved significant success at Zidan Sanad Primary School in Port Said, located near one of OC's major wastewater treatment projects, where we renovated the infrastructure and introduced educational development programs. Orascom Construction Achieves Safety Milestone at Zed Towers We are pleased to announce that Zed Towers has reached a significant safety milestone, achieving 25 million man-hours without a lost-time injury. The project involves constructing four fully finished residential towers, totaling 600 housing units. The development includes three-floor parking structures connecting the towers, a two-floor podium, and 17 floors of apartments, with a total Built-Up Area (BUA) of 197,000 m². Our scope encompasses all construction, finishing, testing, and commissioning works. Notably, the project also includes a remarkable 380-ton curved steel bridge, spanning 40 meters and elevated 65 meters above ground using specialized hydraulic strand jacks—marking it as the first of its kind in the Middle East. This achievement follows our recent safety milestone at the Al Alamein Towers project in Al Alamein New City, where we also achieved 25 million man-hours without a lost-time injury. Imbaba Light Repairs Workshop Begins Trial Runs: A Significant Step for Greater Cairo Metro Line 3, Phase 3C As of August 20, 2024, trial runs for the Imbaba Light Repairs Workshop, part of Greater Cairo Metro Line 3 Phase 3C, have commenced. Located in Imbaba, Egypt, the workshop includes 20 buildings and essential infrastructure, covering 100,800 square meters. The Imbaba Workshop is the final part of Line 3, which began construction in 2006 and was inaugurated in 2012. This 7.1-kilometer line connects Al-Tawfiqeya station in the west to Cairo University in the south, with key stops at Wadi Al-Nil Street, the League of Arab States, and Boulak Al-Dakrour. Orascom Construction has been pivotal to the development of the Greater Cairo Metro since the 1980s, including the construction of Lines 2, 3, and 4, and recently the modernization of Line 1. Orascom Construction Consortium to Expand Ras Ghareb Wind Farm in Egypt to 650 MW Orascom Construction, in partnership with Engie, Toyota Tsusho, and Eurus Energy, has signed an extension to its Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC). This extension will add 150 MW to the existing 500 MW Red Sea Wind Energy project, which is currently under construction in Ras Ghareb, Egypt, increasing the total capacity of the wind farm to 650 MW. The consortium is on track to energize the first 250 MW phase of the wind farm by December 2024, two months ahead of schedule. The additional 150 MW will be developed on adjacent land on a fast-track basis, ensuring commercial operations for the entire 650 MW by Q3 2025. Once operational, the expanded wind farm will generate clean energy for over 1 million homes and reduce carbon emissions by approximately 1.3 million tons annually, supporting Egypt’s transition to renewable energy. This expansion builds on the consortium’s previous achievements, including the 262.5 MW Ras Ghareb wind farm, Egypt’s first IPP project, which has been operational since October 2019.
