- Electric Scotland is the largest online
resource on Scottish history but we also carry huge sections for topics
such as Robert Burns, Children's Stories, etc.
- The site gets around 180,000 unique
visitors each month but more in the Winter with January being the peak
month but a bit slower in the Summer.
- Our visitors come from... 42% from the
USA, 23% from the UK, 9% from Canada with the next most visiting
countries being Australia, India, Germany, Philippines, Ireland, New Zealand and
France. (figures as at 6th May, 2013)
We run Google adverts within the site so you
can bid for placement in that space with Google Ad Words.
In mid February 2013 I had a meeting with
various people and talked and communicated with numerous visitors to our
site to find out the best way to offer advertising on our site. The goal
was to benefit the advertisers as well as our visitors. The
overwhelming opinion was to offer classified advertising at a low cost not
only to encourage companies to advertise but to keep them advertising.
This in turn would create a great resource for our visitors enabling
them to browse through the adverts when looking for products or
services.
We have thus now launched our Classified
Directory where we are offering low cost advertising on a monthly or
annual basis. We offer 2 formats...
Vertical
Horizontal
To create your advert you simply download
the size you are interested in and then add your advert inside the black
rectangle. Where you retain a local copy of the advert you can then
change it at any time you wish during the contract period. Simply
recreate your graphic and email it to us. Reasons for changing your
advert may be to promote a specific product or service or where you are
advertising an event to change the event date to the following year.
There is no charge for changing your advert. Note also where you might
be promoting an event you can continue your advert and simply send us in
a new graphic for another event you wish to promote. However, you may
need to supply us with a different web address to go with your new event
which we'll also change for you.
The graphic will be clickable but we also
add a text link under your graphic as well.
The cost is either US$50.00 (roughly £35.00)
a month (minimum of 6 months) or US$540 a year (roughly £350). Payment
is through PayPal where we send you a link which you click on to arrange
payment either through PayPal or through your bank or credit card. As
this is a subscription service you can keep this running for as long as
you wish or cancel at any time subject to our minimum terms. Note that we don't offer refunds on
cancellation where you are within your contract period.
Where you don't have the graphic skills to
create your display advert we can help.
Promotion of this Classified Directory is
through a special banner graphic which is featured in our header on all
pages of our web site.

Button adverts
You will note that we have button adverts on either side of the
Classified Banner. This is simply to allow a few advertisers to
get greater exposure. We can only accept a maximum of 4 of these
adverts. The cost is US$500 a month (roughly £325.00).
Button Advert
Minimum period is for 3 months after which
you can cancel at any time or keep it running. This is a good way to get
your company or brand known throughout the Scots Diaspora at home and
abroad. Once all four slots are booked we will not accept any other
offers unless one of our four advertisers decides to cancel their
advert.
You can however reserve a slot should one
become vacant by simply emailing us and we'll put you in the queue on a
first come basis. Should a slot be vacant we may at our discretion add a
free button for a cause we are supporting. So even if all four are
displayed it is possible that one might be a free one and thus is
available so do check with us.
And so the above is our new offering and
when we get the time we'll start contacting companies to see if they'd
be interested in participating. See our Contact Us
page for contact details. |
