1. Set Capacity requirements as part of Qualifying requirements to ensure that the vendor does not bite what it can't chew. 2.Hold Pre Bid meetings for clarifying scope so that realistic bids are placed. 3. Standardised drawings as far as possible to avoid time gap in approvals. 4. Periodic meetings to avoid long chain of mails. Work as Partners and collaborate for problem solving. 5. Tracking of Payments to vendors and fixing KPIs for internal staff to ensure timely payments and proper cash flow. 6. Assess Risks in advance and prepare mitigation plans 7. Digitize the project monitoring process with single point of truth. 8. Ensure that you and vendor agree to a common timeline/targets. Dictating timelines will not help.

Understanding of issues, barriers and support required. There is no i in team. Vendors have been selected for a reason and conditions change, work through it to enable a win/win outcome.

Communication is key, first part is to ensure that our subs/vendors understand our action plan i.e. construction schedule. Second is constant feedback, understanding if a task will be done on time or not. If yes let's make sure we understand the next steps; if not how can we work together as a team to get back on our path? Lastly, adapt accordingly, and repeat.

First and foremost it's important to try and mitigate risks during the design and planning stage itself. Keeping buffers in timelines as against deliveries committed by vendors so as to accommodate for last minute unavoidable risks is important. During execution phase, its important to track deliveries continuously. Keep discussing with partners on any risks that they forsee and how you can resolve any issues at the budding stage. Thinking ahead is important for project leaders rather than battling out at a later stage.
