Our proposal for the competition for the refurbishment of the Puerta de Hierro Hospital in Madrid, promoted last year, highlights this remarkable building designed by the modern architect Josep Bosch Aymerich. In this project we focused in enhancing the value of the unique original architecture. In addition, the design created excellent conditions of well-being and intimacy in the hospital's common and private spaces. In the late 1950s, Bosch Aymerich was commissioned by the religious order of the Dominicans to build a hospital. The Catalan architect took advantage of the depth of the plot to design a building in the shape of an italic S. Bosch Aymerich combined this with a sawtooth shape to orient the windows to avoid the strong sun of Madrid summers. Together, the two solutions achieved a unique image for the building. 📍How do we approach architectural heritage? We recently had a thoughtful conversation with team members about heritage from both a designer's perspective and that of an architectural enthusiast. We asked our managing director in Kuwait, Aisha Al Sager, about her favorite historical buildings in the city. She recommended two Modern Era structures notable for their distinctive facades, cantilevers, and characteristic long, low volumes typical of that period. Unfortunately, we've already lost one of these buildings despite its architectural significance. It's crucial that we protect, learn to appreciate, and thoughtfully retrofit 20th century architecture and architectural heritage in general. This represents the most sustainable and culturally enriching approach to contemporary urban development. At AGi architects, we've been strengthening our focus on #heritage rehabilitation as a core element of our practice. This direction reflects our belief that architectural #preservation is fundamental to cultural sustainability.

Nasser Abulhasan's reflections on one of Kuwait City's most iconic landmarks—the Parliament building designed by renowned architect Jørn Utzon—highlight the significance of such structures. This masterpiece stands as a testament to thoughtful architectural dialogue between modernity and cultural context. Our historical memory carries incalculable value. The conservation of heritage and the built environment represents one of our most powerful strategies for achieving greater sustainability in architecture. These structures embody not just the collective memory and identity of communities. By rehabilitating significant buildings rather than replacing them, we honor the past in a more sustainable approach. These projects require a delicate balance of preservation and adaptation to contemporary needs, a challenge AGi architects embraces with both technical expertise and cultural sensitivity.

The defining feature of Three Gardens House is its thoughtful integration with the several gardens that structure the home. From basement to rooftop, patios and gardens connect with the living spaces, creating not just beauty but practical climate efficiency. The design invites residents to experience the natural elements—feeling the gentle sun, refreshing breeze, cool water, and surrounding vegetation throughout daily life. Crafting atmosphere through light: #PixelHouse details. Natural light orchestrates an ever-changing experience throughout Pixel House. Generous skylights and a garden-facing porch welcome warmth when desired, while the patio's latticework creates an interplay of dancing light patterns for more intimate moments. As night falls, the experience transforms. Submerged in the pool, you float beneath skylights that frame the stars above, while the garden lights glow softly through the delicate lattice enclosure—creating a private sanctuary between water and sky.
