Working towards a world in which all people can enjoy health
Sobre nosotros
ISGlobal is a public-private partnership with a longstanding commitment to global health that builds on the existing research, training, and health activities of its founders and strives to contribute to the global effort to improve health worldwide. It is the fruit of an innovative alliance between the ”la Caixa” Foundation and academic and government institutions to contribute to the efforts undertaken by the international community to address the challenges in global health. ISGlobal is a consolidated hub of excellence in research that has grown out of work first started in the world of health care by the Hospital Clínic and the Parc de Salut MAR and in the academic sphere by the University of Barcelona and Pompeu Fabra University. Its working model is based on the generation of scientific knowledge through Research Programmes and Groups, and its translation through the areas of Training and Analysis and Global Development. ISGlobal has been named a Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence and is a member of the CERCA system of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

"After spending time in a malaria-endemic area, I believe a #malaria-free world is one where children don’t miss school due to illness and adults can sleep every night without worrying that a mosquito bite could jeopardize their family's health." We're excited to share an insightful interview with Sara Stanulovic, Project Assistant in the #BOHEMIAproject, funded by Unitaid. From training 250 fieldworkers in Kenya to overcoming logistical challenges, Sara shares her inspiring journey and the critical work happening behind the scenes in the fight against malaria. Maternal antibodies that pass through the placenta can interfere with responses to the RTS,S #malaria #vaccine, shows an #ISGlobal study in collaboration with 7 African centres. The analysis of more than 600 samples from children who participated in the vaccine trial shows that the higher the level of maternal antibodies to the protein included in the vaccine, the lower the infant's response. These findings explain the lower vaccine efficacy in infants < 5 months of age. Read more here:

#EndocrineDisruptors, invisible but harmful chemicals in our environment, pose a growing threat to human health, impacting everything from reproductive health to early puberty, as you can read in this report from El País. ISGlobal’s Environment and Health Throughout Life Programme, led by Martine Vrijheid, stresses the need for more research on the effects of exposure to multiple disruptors and advocates for stronger policies to reduce these chemicals in everyday products. Although current concentrations are low, the long-term health impacts cannot be ignored. Let's keep pushing for healthier, safer environments for all. #ISGlobal #EnvironmentalHealth #PublicHealth
