The European Commission has proposed a 12-month delay to the implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation, now set to take effect in December 2025 for large companies and June 2026 for smaller enterprises. This delay comes in response to feedback from various stakeholders, including businesses and trade partners. While this extension provides additional time for preparation, it is crucial for companies to continue their efforts towards compliance. The regulation aims to curb deforestation by ensuring that products sold in the EU do not contribute to forest degradation.
