𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐁𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐍𝐀𝐓!🌱 We’re excited to share that our latest deliverable, D8.7, for the BeonNATproject was submitted this September, focusing on an Intermediate Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA) of BeonNAT'sinnovative products. This assessment took a deep dive into the environmental, economic, and social impacts of pilot-scale products, with a special focus on critical issues like Land Use Change (LUC).🌍 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭?🔍 A total of 26 unique productswere evaluated, derived from six species including Betula pendulain Romania, Ulmuspumilaand Cistus ladaniferin Spain, Cytisusscopariusin Germany, Juniperus communis, and Rosmarinus officinalisin Spain. Among these, we analyzed diverse products such as vegetal extracts, essential oils, lactic acid, biochar, activated carbon, pet absorbents, particle boards, and tissue paper. 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 📊 •Environmental Impact: Climate change, fossil resource use, and land use emerged as the most relevant impact categories across products. •Economic Drivers: Equipment and labor were primary cost contributors. •Social Impact: Health and safety stood out as a critical factor. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭?🚀 Looking forward, we’re gearing up for a comprehensive life cycle analysis of these BeonNATproducts to assess their impact across their entire lifecycle. Stay tuned for more insights on how BeonNATis driving sustainable innovation!📢

Innovative value chains from tree and shrub species grown in marginal lands as a source of biomass for biobased industry
Sobre nosotros
The BeonNAT project seeks to demonstrate the viability of the use of marginal lands to source forest biomass for the production of high added value bio-products. As well as providing a source of biomass, the BeonNAT project will also contribute to protecting biodiversity and improve soil fertility and organic carbon stocks. In addition to providing excellent economic opportunities for Europe’s bio-based economy, it will also create new jobs in rural areas, helping reduce the risk of depopulation. This project receives funding from the #BBI and the #EU Research & Innovation Programme. Any related post reflect only the views of the project owner.
