A lot of times we have two people arguing over the same thing, trying to say that the same thing in different ways, and they think they disagree.

Negotiation is a skill that can be taught. It doesn't matter who you are, anyone can learn to negotiate.
Sobre nosotros
The art and science of negotiation have come a long way over the past decade. While there is certainly a place for academic theory and old-school tactics, research has shown that an Emotionally Intelligent approach to negotiation will maximise your likelihood of a favourable outcome. We have created a course that is a practical, step-by-step guide that will teach you how to use Emotional Intelligence to negotiate, while also providing a safe space to practice the skills you learn. Knowing who is calling the shots in a negotiation is crucial because it allows you to tailor your approach and strategy accordingly. Understanding the power dynamics helps you navigate the negotiation process more effectively and increases your chances of achieving favourable outcomes. #emotionalintelligence #negotiation

Stephanie Perkins' quote beautifully encapsulates the essence of emotional intelligence in negotiations. When you have a deep understanding of yourself and your objectives, you're better equipped to manage your emotions and reactions during the negotiation process. In negotiations, being aware of your own emotions and motivations allows you to remain calm and composed, even in the face of challenges or setbacks. When you have clarity about what you want to achieve and why it matters to you, external pressures are less likely to unsettle you. Moreover, understanding your own values and priorities enables you to negotiate from a place of authenticity and confidence. You're less likely to be swayed by external pressures or manipulative tactics because you know what truly matters to you. Ultimately, by knowing yourself and what you want, you can approach negotiations with a sense of clarity, resilience, and self-assurance, leading to more effective communication, better decision-making, and ultimately, more successful outcomes. #emotionalintelligence #communicationskills

Negotiations aren't about winning hearts but understanding minds. It's not essential to be best buddies with your negotiation partner, but fostering empathy and rapport can significantly boost your chances of success. The better the connection you build (coupled with a positive mood), the smoother the negotiation tends to go. Spending a bit of time upfront to establish a rapport with the other party can really pay off as talks develop. #negotiation #emotionalintelligence #communicationskills

Imagine you're planning a big family holiday. You haven't done your research or figured out what destinations everyone wants to visit. As a result, you end up booking a trip that nobody enjoys. The same thing applies to negotiation. Lack of preparation is usually the culprit. Sure, preparing takes time, but think about the frustration of not knowing your goals or strategy well enough. Being prepared gives you the upper hand, making the time spent beforehand incredibly valuable. #emotionalintelligence #negotiation

In May of last year, amidst the joy of a wedding celebration, an unexpected twist in my own plot occurred—a ripped Achilles tendon. The prognosis was daunting: off my feet for five months, with at least a year before I could walk without pain. They were right about the recovery, and I am still on that journey. Yet, the most profound impact was not the physical restraint, but the realization that I would be temporarily stepping away from my passion—teaching and coaching in negotiation, communication, and leadership. My work, deeply embedded in the dynamics of interacting with leaders and their teams, thrives on creating energetic atmospheres for learning and ideas exchange. This sudden pause from my engagements in companies and business schools left me devastated. However, within this enforced hiatus, I found an opportunity to delve deeper into the world of negotiation, my enduring passion. With time now an ally, I embarked on a quest to expand my knowledge, connect with experts globally, and immerse myself in the nuanced intellect surrounding negotiation. This period of research and enlightening conversations ignited a desire to share these revelations with the world. I discovered that there are incredibly skilled negotiators navigating their way through business and personal life with remarkable success and empathy. Capturing their best practices became a mission—to create a platform that amplifies these strategies to others. Thus, the Empathy at the Table Podcast was born. It's more than just a podcast it is a tribute to the collective wisdom of those who navigate the complex dance of negotiation with grace and empathy. Having reached a milestone of 20 conversations with experts, I am just at the beginning, yet so much has been learned. Here are some lessons from my first 4 guests: Number 1: Sebastian Ross https://lnkd.in/eiGphsV5 Being coherent with your words heart and mind are key. Number 2: Conor Neill https://lnkd.in/eSY4Qhim You cannot ask someone to grow if you are not prepared to put in the work yourself. Number 3: Zsuzsanna Ferenczi https://lnkd.in/eTAAXPf7 Your identity is linked to your perception of success in the negotiation. Number 4: Aline Badr, PCC CPCC https://lnkd.in/ehuFNWiT Your reputation is your currency when it comes to negotiation and leadership. Next 4 coming up soon.. Thank you to all of the people who have joined me so far, I have enjoyed our conversations and look forward to sharing many more. #negotiationskills #communication

I love running workshops that take participants outside of their normal work environment and experience. Lately, I've spiced things up by introducing facilitation cards to push participants' emotional intelligence. If you're curious to learn more, let's have a chat. #emotionalintelligence #negotiation
