We know what it takes to grow a business. In Spain, we have a saying: "Más sabe el diablo por viejo que por diablo." In English, it translates to: "The devil knows more from being old than from being the devil." 📔 It means there’s no substitute for experience. Do you think experience is overrated? Honestly, I used to.I believed studying a situation thoroughly was enough to understand it. But there's a big difference between understanding something intellectually and experiencing it. When you experience it, you internalize it. You understand the nuances and the details. Oscar Wilde said it well: "Experience is a wonderful thing; it allows us to recognize a mistake every time we repeat it." 💡 After more than 15 years in the beauty industry, I’ve had my share of failures and mistakes. I've also enjoyed many successes. What I've learned is that we celebrate our successes, but we learn from our failures. In trying to understand what we could have done better, we grow. 🤔 This reminds me of my time competing in football at an elite level, when my coach used to say: "when u play, you never lose; you either win or you learn." ⚽ I want to use my experience—my mistakes, my failures, and my successes—to help new and brave entrepreneurs. Beginnings are never easy. Let's be honest: we all have success and failure stories. But we tend to hide our failures and publish our success stories on social media. It's human nature to fear judgment and crave acceptance. Maybe that's why we hesitate to share our weaknesses. My life is a tapestry of successes and failures. Yet, it's the failures that have taught me the most. I've been fortunate in many ways. 🍀 At 14, I spent a month in England with a wonderful host family. They lived in a mansion with horses next to a beautiful green park. It felt like a dream. ✨ Two years later, I had a similar experience in the US. I stayed with a family who owned a small island on Lake Winnipesaukee (New Hampshire). Celebrating my first Fourth of July on a boat in the middle of that lake, surrounded by a welcoming American family and their beautiful husky dog, was unforgettable. It felt like the dream kept going. 🌟 Little did I know, these experiences were the start of my international journey. At that time, I dreamed of being a professional football player. Fast forward 13 years, and I had lived in Utrecht, San Francisco, Madrid, Hong Kong, and Miami. Returning to Spain, I was full of hope. I thought my international experience and language skills would lead to an excellent career. 💼🌟 Then, the greatest economic crisis in 50 years hit. The next decade was much tougher than I expected. Filled with both success and failure. Some wrong decisions were made, and some big disappointments and unexpected career turns confused me. 🤷♂️ Whether those experiences were good or bad, only time will tell. Life isn't about what happens to you, but what you learn from it. These experiences inspired me to create my own company.
