"The energy transition cannot be ignored. We see this as an opportunity to highlight that this is the stuff that makes sense from both a commercial and a sustainability perspective." - Edward Mountney sharing his views on the current environment of sustainable investment with the Financial Times.
Recently, Edward Mountney, investment manager to FGEN, spoke with FT Adviser about the current environment of sustainable investment. The piece highlighted that despite the US’s withdrawal from the Paris Agreement and rolling back of over 100 environmental policies, investor sentiment remains strong. Ed stated that “The energy transition cannot be ignored. We see this as an opportunity to highlight that this is the stuff that makes sense from both a commercial and a sustainability perspective.” Meanwhile, last month, the UK formally submitted its Nationally Determined Contribution (#NDC) under the Paris Agreement, pledging to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 81% against 1990 levels by 2035. The new plan also officially signs the UK up to the COP28 commitments to triple renewable energy capacity and double annual energy efficiency improvements by 2030.
