Gutiérrez-delaFuente Monographic Exhibition at AEDES Berlin Gutiérrez-delaFuente Arquitectos, Madrid SHAPING THE UNBUILT ENVIRONMENT Working With the Already-There Curated by Kaye Geipel and Gutiérrez-delaFuente The Madrid-based studio Gutiérrez-delaFuente Arquitectos (GdlF) takes on a paradoxical challenge: in an almost entirely built urban landscape, they care for the unbuilt environment. Instead of focusing only on new architecture, they adapt existing spaces, revealing their hidden potential. Their approach – working with the already-there – understands the unbuilt as a crucial component of an ecological transformation. The exhibition at Aedes presents sustainable strategies for improving in-between spaces through selected projects in Germany, Belgium, Spain, the UK and Switzerland. A central element is the film installation European Encounter Cabinet, in which international experts close to the studio share their perspectives on the future of European cities and territories, including Kristiaan Borret (Brussels), Aglaèe Degros (Graz), Andreas Hofer (Stuttgart), Didier Rebois (Paris), Mónica Cid and Silvia Villacañas (Madrid). The Refurbishment and Restoration works of the Ateneo de Madrid is featured in the issue ofAHI 2023 catalogue (p.28). The AHI 2023 Catalogue publishes the works that participated in the AHI 2023 European Award. Projects from 28 European countries were presented in different categories of the AHI 2023 European Award: Built Heritage, Exterior Spaces, Urban Planning and Disclosure. The published works represent a diversity of approaches to architectural heritage interventions, responding to new challenges of climate change and scarcity of resources. Realschule Kemnath NEW PICTURES by Roland Halbe in our website!! Today, we are excited to show you the first set of pictures by Roland Halbe of the completed Realschule Kemnath. While work on the outdoor facilities is still ongoing, the school is ready for the arrival of around 900 students. Still waiting for having a final shooting soon when landscape is finished. The new Realschule is the centerpiece of urban development at the northwestern entrance of Kemnath. This project includes sports facilities, a new residential area, and the landscape integration of the Flötzbach stream. Together with the neighboring primary and middle schools, the new building forms a new educational district. The school, consisting of a three-story school building, a single-story intermediate section, and a triple sports hall, follows the contours of the terrain, which slopes from southwest to northeast, integrating seamlessly. This project was realized in collaboration with our wonderful partner ALN Architekturbüro.
