🌊Advancing Digital Twin Technologies for Inland Waters and Ocean Integration

IDEATION (InlanD watErs in the digitAl Twin OceaN) is a EU-funded project aimed at developing a digital twin for inland waters-rivers, lakes, reservoirs, wetlands, snow, and ice-ensuring its integration and interoperability with the Digital Twin Ocean. The project’s success depends on the collaboration of an experienced consortium of 11 European partners. This ambitious project unifies the hydrosphere by leveraging cross-border cooperation and engaging European stakeholders through Water-oriented Living Labs (WoLLs) and Multi-Stakeholder Forums (MSF). Utilizing diverse engagement methodologies such as focus groups, workshops, and questionnaires, IDEATION will create an open knowledge inventory (OpenKIWAS) and co-design a reference architecture for seamless data, model, and technology integration. The project’s roadmap will outline priorities and a stepped approach for implementation. Backed by a consortium with extensive EU project experience, IDEATION is set to revolutionise our understanding and management of water systems.

🎯The Water Resilience Strategy released by Water Europe highlights the urgent need for integrated water management and digitalisation to enhance EU water security.
