💫 Last week, two of our partners presented EU-OPENSCREEN and our #HorizonEU project IMPULSE at the SLAS (Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening) 2024 Sample Management Symposium in Toulouse, France! Martin Popr, from our screening partner site and database host the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, gave a talk entitled "Integrated Compound Management in Academia". Martin introduced the technological and computational aspects of compound management within the CZ-OPENSCREEN network, one of the national infrastructures associated with EU-OPENSCREEN and IMPULSE. He further highlighted the role of advanced cheminformatic and bioinformatic tools to support compound management and biological activity testing. Geert A. Daudey, from our screening partner site the BioFarma Research Group and InnoPharma Platform at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC), presented a poster titled "Automated Workflow for Error-Reduction, Time Efficiency, and Labor Minimization in Sample Management Using Echo 650 and Robotic Integration". As part of this poster he explained the Spanish Academic Library initiative, which complements EU-OPENSCREEN's compound-sharing initiative to collect and bioprofile compounds submitted to us by academic chemists. #EUOPENSCREEN #EUOSImpulse #SLASSample24

Introducing our partners in SPAIN. The Translational Medicinal and Biological Chemistry Laboratory at the Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas Margarita Salas (CSIC), an EU-OPENSCREEN medicinal chemistry partner site, discovers, designs and develops new drugs to treat neurological and infectious diseases. In our #HorizonEU project IMPULSE, they are coordinating the development of new chemical modalities for the EU-OPENSCREEN services portfolio. Fundacion MEDINA, also a screening partner site, is a comprehensive and multidisciplinary drug discovery and preclinical research centre, with a focus on drug discovery for microbial natural products. In IMPULSE, they are supporting our efforts to establish new services for advanced disease models and new chemical modalities. We also collaborate on the EU-funded project EUREMAP on marine bioprospecting, where they lead work on marine natural products and industry valorisation. The BioFarma Research Group at the University of Santiago de Compostela engages with both academic researchers and biotech/pharmaceutical companies on early drug discovery projects. They also host the InnoPharma Platform, a high-capacity screening centre and EU-OPENSCREEN screening partner site. They are involved in several aspects of IMPULSE, such as demonstrating new chemical modalities, offering complex disease models for the EU-OPENSCREEN portfolio, and coordinating the Industry Liaison Office.   Our screening partner the Centro de Investigación Príncipe Felipe (CIPF) biomedical research centre hosts an extensive screening platform and compound libraries for drug discovery and drug repurposing. They are helping to validate new chemical modalities for the EU-OPENSCREEN service portfolio within IMPULSE.  This autumn we are also welcoming a new screening partner site to our network: the Drug Screening Platform at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine Barcelona (IRB Barcelona). They offer tailored support to researchers via access to their state-of-the-art HTS equipment and comprehensive services across the drug candidate discovery pipeline. We are excited to have IRB Barcelona on board and look forward to advancing European drug discovery together!
