In each edition of our company magazine, A Pure World, we talk to members of our Jacobi teams about their passions outside of work. In this edition, we meet Zachary Grennan from our US team who spends most of his free time coaching young volleyball players. He told us why helping young people is so important to him, and how his coaching life and work life complement one another. “I know how important sports can be for people's personal development. In my coaching, I want to teach kids how to handle emotions without overreacting and the importance of working as hard as possible. A group of twelve team members from Jacobi Sweden recently spent the day joining a run called Blodomloppet. The name translates to Blood Circulation in English, and the day aims to raise awareness of the importance of blood donation whilst helping to raise funds for youth projects at the same time. We finished the run with a picnic and a great day was had by all. At Jacobi we are passionate about implementing CSR projects that we know will make a genuine impact on people's lives. One of our most successful initiatives is our book donation scheme in Sri Lanka. We have an activated carbon factory here and work closely with local communities to help make improvements where we can. In recent years we have been working with local schools to donate books, stationery and various items of sports equipment to pupils who need them most. The scheme has proven very successful - when we started in 2021, we helped around 200 students and this grew quickly to 1,700 in 2023. ACTIVATED CARBON 🌍: As part of its ‘Go Green’ initiative, Jacobi Group is investing in the sustainable production of coconut shell charcoal, launching research and development efforts on an improved proprietary charring process while also expanding reactivation facilities in Europe.  Jacobi’s expanded reactivation facilities in Europe make it easier for customers to send back spent media and have it recycled, rather than simply using virgin carbon repeatedly. Jim Knepper, Jacobi Group president of the Americas, said: “While all of us at Jacobi fully believe in our sustainability journey and the reasons for it, make no mistake – we will not succeed without true partnerships with customers, suppliers, and technology partners.
